We were without power for 16 DAYS and they have refused to issue any type of compensation for the pain and suffering and the expenses people had to endure to keep living. They are also charging us for internet that we are not receiving and will not issue any type of credit for the time we paid but did not receive credit. There are laws about having to issue credit and they think they are above the law and can steal from customers. They need to be investigated for how they are ripping off their customers!Initial Complaint

Starting Saturday March 29th at approximately 4:35 am we lost power to our area. In losing power we also lost our internet via ********** the Company owned and operated by Great Lakes Energy. Our power was finally restored at approximately 10:30pm Friday April 4th. I don't know the exact time because we never did receive a callback notification letting us know power had been restored and still haven't received one as of today 4/8/25. Also as of today we are still without internet service. I service we pay a monthly fee for. A service that I am paying for should be a service I'm receiving. I still don't have internet. I've contacted ********** 3 times now asking for any update on the restoration on service and each time I'm told that they have no update and that their first priority is restoring the power. I get that but if you can't give me any update and put my service on the back burner I wholeheartedly expect a credit to be applied to my bill for the time without service. Especially when I'm being told they aren't sure how long that will take. I just got off the phone with a supervisor by the name of **** *****? He said there's no credit being offered. This is absolutely not acceptable. I'm demanding a service credit be applied for time without the service that I'm paying for!!!!!!!Initial Complaint

Our family home has been incorrectly billed for a ************ meter not on our property and for electricity we never used going back to at least 2010.I formally dispute the ongoing charges for an electrical meter that does not serve my family's property. The account is under my mother's name ******** **** and I have been authorized by her to communicate and manage on her behalf. GLE account number ******** ("Pump") and meter number *********. After reviewing our electric bills and investigating the situation, I have discovered the meter appearing on our account have been incorrectly assigned to my family for many years. This meter is physically located on my neighbor's property, and our household does not receive any electricity from it as confirmed by GLE field technician ****. We have been incorrectly informed both on our GLE bill and by *** customer support the meter is dedicated to our "Pump". This is not true. Our well pump is powered by the meter on our house (Account # *********. My elderly 85 year old mother was previously misinformed by Great Lakes Energy that this meter was used to power our well pump, but I have since confirmed that is not the case. *** has stopped the incorrect billing but refuses to refund the money we were incorrectly charged.Given this discovery, we are requesting the following actions: 1. Immediate Removal of the Unauthorized Meter. GLE technician **** disconnected the rogue meter Feb 17. 2. Full Account Audit and Refund of all Overcharges. I request a detailed history of all charges associated with this meter, as well as a full refund for any payments we have made for electricity we did not use. 3. Written Confirmation of Resolution. I request written confirmation detailing the corrective actions taken, including the removal of the meter from my account and the amount of any refund issued. I expect this matter to be resolved promptly. Additionally, I reserve the right to pursue legal action to recover my financial losses.Initial Complaint

Good afternoon, I have three accounts with **********************. One of those locations ************************ is a residential location. The second *****M 72 highway is A commercial location. For the last three years, I have noticed an extreme increase month over month at our commercial location. I have called the company on multiple different attempts to try and understand the inflation that happens Most tremendously during the months of october through February. While I understand that most businesses have furnaces that are working overtime to keep their buildings warm in the winter. Ideally, you would see some ***** in the winter last winter specifically, we did not have a furnace. We had Deep freezer and hot water heater (used intermittently) and pellet stove, lights are all updated and led and were only being used in a portion of the building. The month before this increase we were running a deer process facility full time. The month we received our highest bill we had decreased our usage. We reached out to Great Lakes Energy and they continue to tell us that we must have a power source that is drying more electricity. Again, at the time, the only things that we were using were the pellet stove, a deep freezer, and a water heater. We unplugged the deep freezer and only had the two units running which we continue to run for the rest of the year. The following month of the bill increased even more and then the two months to follow. Its steadily decreased. While all summer my bill has been consistent with my residential location. At my home I run space heaters, hottub, water pump for pool, constant candles, dishwasher, washer and dryer, tvs, lamps, fans. Again, I have reached out to Great Lakes Energy for some type of explanation for how my residential location and my commercial location could even possibly run the same amount of energy considering the commercial building. Doesnt have any of those appliances. They refuse to work towards a solution.Initial Complaint

There are consistent issues with service. Everyday there are brown outs or outages. This has caused a freezer for my business to fail costing me over $600 in product alone. Plus the replacement cost of the equipment. When calling the business - the employees are extremely rude. **** specifically does nothing to help but repeat she is not at fault. They do not fix service in a timely manner, they make false claims of fixing or attempting to fix issues. Only to have to same issue persist for weeks. If they are allowed to operate a monopoly they better be held to higher standards. If I have to pay to fix the collateral damage from their poor services, they can put it towards my bill. I do not pay them to cost me more money. I pay for electricity and that is not being provided properly or safely.Initial Complaint

The utility company providing electricity to our home has started to charge excessive rates, the electric bill has jumped from $30.00 a month up to $725.00 apparently for no reason, our electrical usage has not changed whatsoever. I believe there is fraud happening.Initial Complaint

Both are listed as responsible parties on the account. *********************** was also a responsible parity for address ************************************ ***** left a balance at address *********************************** after it was disconnected. He is an active and responsible party at address ***** with Charity, so the unpaid balance was transferred to the new address and has since been paid.
