Jan.10, 2025 I wrote two checks and mailed them **** $742.00 for Auto insurance $596.88 for Homeowners insurance. Spoke with ****** at MEEMIC and he strongly suggested I pay by credit card and not take the chance of my insurance being cancelled.I then stopped payment on the two checks through my bank, where I incurred a stop payment charge.Feb. 24, 2025 I received a bill of $25 on my Homeowners insurance account. Spoke with ******. This was a returned check charge. I explained I had paid the premium on 1-31-25 as he had suggested. I was not policies.Mar. 14, 2025 I received a bill of $25 on my Homeowners insurance account. Spoke with ****. He said a supervisor will contact me.Mar. 15, **************************** so I called and spoke with *****. She put in a request to cancel this charge.Mar. 18, 2025 1.I received a bill of $40 on my Homeowners insurance account and a bill of $25 on my Auto insurance account. Spoke with *******. She reached out to ****** and found out there was no approval through the appeasement process. As no supervisor had called me, I was not aware of this. I asked to speak with a supervisor, she told me no one was available.2.Wrote two checks so coverage is not cancelled and mailed them ****.$25 for Auto Insurance $40 for Homeowners Insurance 3.Called customer service and asked how to contact the President of MEEMIC. ******** sent a message to the Supervisor Team requesting a return call on my cell phone. She was advised that the soonest someone could contact me was Friday, Mar. 23.4.I sent an email through the Contact Us platform. Mar. 19, 2025 I received an email reply, a representative from MEEMIC will be in contact with you within one business day.Mar. 25, 2025 As of today I have not received any response from MEEMIC.I would like someone from MEEMIC to contact me.Initial Complaint

Suggestion insertedConversation opened. 1 read ********** DIFScomplaint Dear complaints department, I am writing on behalf of a friend, ****** ****** (******) who signed up for car insurance with representative **** ******* at MEEMIC on October 22, 2024. She was quoted a price of $127.37 based on having ******** Insurance and having a previous insurance company policy. (plus an offer to complete the *** Drive online course for a 5% discount). She paid the $127.37 at once and sent him her documents on Nov 13 by email. **** ******* was supposed to upload ******** ******** number and proof of previous insurance to her policy (#MSA701655509) and send her a link to set her online account to follow her account activity..... but neither of these things happened. ****** paid another $131.37 (5% added.....no Drive discount) on Nov 30, 2024 Since the documents were not uploaded, her rates doubled. Then on December 30, 2024, $263.28 was taken by automatic payment from her bank account for the inflated monthly premium. ****** wasn't aware of this until her January 29, 2025 bank payment for $257.09 was returned to MEEMIC for insufficient funds. MEEMIC she needed to pay $522. 52 by March 7, 2025 to re-instate the inflated policy and they would not even be able to look at it for any discrepancies until that amount was paid in full. The money she paid would have covered all but $3.48 of the costs of the original policy from November 2024 through February 2025.****** in customer service gave me her supervisor's name .....********* ****, who didn't answer my 3 phone calls. She had her "associate" call me and say nothing could be done without the full $522.02 being paid by midnight on March 7 to reinstate the inflated policy. This is the definition of extortion........contracting for one amount and insisting on 4 times the original amount be paid for the service to be restored. THE CUSTOMER NO LONGER HAS AN ACTIVE AUTO POLICY WITH MEEMIC.

Hello ********** building was hit by a patient's car on 11/6/2024 causing damage to a ***** on front entrance. *************** was called, they assessed the damage, front door was closed for patient safety. We called car drivers insurance which is Meemic Insurance company for damage assessment and repairs. After several calls *************************) we were asked to email repair estimate and pictures of damage which were sent promptly but took few more calls for company agents to find. After several weeks and many calls later, we got in touch with an adjuster (****** **** - ************) appointment by the company who in due time made his recommendations to the company.We were told to expect paperwork from insurance company followed by a check to resolve the claim.On 1/21/2025 we found out that case is being handled by ******** (Meemic Ins) who should reach out to us. We have not received any correspondence in spite of leaving voicemails.Closure of front entrance over 2 months, caused a lot of inconvenience for patients, and parking issues in winter weather. Patients had to use the side door which was unsafe in icy weather. Some of the appointments were cancelled due to this reason, putting our patient's healthcare on hold and effecting our revenue.We have repaired the damage out of pocket to put an end to this misery. We would like the insurance company to reimburse the cost of repairs and flag this company for such irresponsible behavior.Business Response

Ive been a Meemic Insurance customer for over 3 years, investing more than $30,000 in premiums, but my recent experience has been incredibly disappointing. I had to file a claim after someone broke into my vehicle, stole items, and caused damage. While Meemic did repair the vehicle, things took a turn for the worse when the thieves returned later that night and broke into another car. Despite this being a clear and urgent situation, my claim has been stuck in limbo since May.The lack of communication has been frustrating. In September, months after I filed the claim, I was forced to sit down with a court reporter for a depositionlong after any relevant information should have been gathered. To make matters worse, Meemic questioned my ability to afford the items I reported as stolen without knowing anything about my financial situation.Meemic hired a lawyer to investigate my claim, but since then, Ive heard absolutely nothing. There are no updates, no progress, and no communication at all. Meanwhile, they continue to debit my account for my premium every month without fail, despite not providing any service or resolution for my ******** this point, it feels like Meemic is more focused on collecting money than on supporting its customers when they need help the most. Im extremely dissatisfied with how theyve handled my claim, and I feel completely ignored as a loyal customer. Been with Meemic for auto and homeowners insurance for 8 years.Never missed a payment. Filed one claim for a no fault accident. Meemic suddenly decided to change the label on the automatic ******** draft after increasing our policy exponentially. Instead of it saying Meemic on the bank draft, it said auto club. The combination of us refinancing our house, having a different label on the bank draft, and the price increasing, the bank blocked the *** draft thinking it was fraudulent. I never got any communication from Meemic that I needed to call them immediately or that there was an issue with the payment. We didnt even know it was Meemic. By the time I connected all of the dots, they had cancelled my policy. Called them immediately to make the payment, and they refused to allow us back as customers. Sketchy, to say the least. I then realized they just used the blocked bank draft to conveniently get rid of us since we had filed a claim. Of course, they wouldnt admit that was the reason. There is no other conclusion one come come to when you literally ask them to pay over the phone, and they refuse. Will never give them another dime of my money.Initial Complaint

On Wednesday, 10/16/24, I found out my insurance policy was cancelled without any type of notification. I called CORPORATE to change my due date just to find out my insurance policy was cancelled. When I asked how and why, the woman I spoke to rudely told me call my local insurance agency to find out and hung up on me. When I called my agency, the young woman who I believe was the receptionist was upfront with me and told me she could not help me because she was not licensed but she tried her best and I appreciate her for that. She was able to transfer me to the manager, *****. He was very informative however, the owner of the agency, ********, had to speak to me but she was not available. Sadly, the local agency was also just informed my policy was cancelled too! Like me, they did not know what was going on. ***** was able to look into my policy. Apparently, Meemic (corporate) emailed me a cancellation notice that I never got a chance to check because I was at work. I also let ***** know for the past week, I have been receiving mass phone calls from a Meemic employee by the name of ***** *******. She wanted to ask me questions from a claim that I filed back in March. I finally spoke to ***** on Friday for about 45 minutes. It seems like since that conversation, I was unfairly dropped from my insurance policy. ***** was unaware about the phone call with *****. Why isn't the conversation I had with ***** showing in the company's notes? There was too much confusion going on not to mention the level of unprofessionalism coming from the corporate end of Meemic. So I have been driving with my child in the car without insurance with proper notification. ***** also told me Meemic is taking back my insurance (I am sure I worded that incorrectly) so basically they want the policy to show as if I have not had insurance since October 2023. Meemic will issue me a check roughly around $2800 due to backdating in about two weeks. They need to overnight it after all of this smh....Initial Complaint

I hit several deer at once in September 2022, totaling my car. As a result I had terrible whiplash since the airbag wasn't there fast enough. I've had migraines and severe muscle spasms for almost a year. I needed chiropractic care and physical therapy along with muscle relaxers and pain meds. After a specified number of visits Meemic started denying to pay, once my providers were aware they stopped my treatment. I am still not better but because it is taking me longer than they expect for me to recover, they are refusing to pay the claims. I pay for unlimited medical care but yet they can deny my treatment because I have had enough visits, according to THEIR doctors. At this point I owe $11,000 in medical bills, my claims manager does not return my calls, and she told my physical therapist that he can file an appeal but that it probably will get denied. At this point, I am barely able to work because the pain is still so debilitating. I feel like I'm being punished for trying to save a little money.Initial Complaint

This insurance company is subpar. I've been a policy holder with this company for several years, and when a tractor trailer tire came off while I was driving behind it on the highway, I couldn't avoid it without seriously putting my life in danger, which resulted in my vehicle being damaged. I filed a claim under comprehensive coverage and the company covered my rental car expense for 30 days. However, when the collision center operating on my vehicle was not done with the repairs in the 30-day time-frame due to delays in thr shipping of parts, this insurance company informed me that they wouldn't cover an extension of my rental car payments. This has resulted in my having to pay out-of-pocket for my rental cat expenses, totaling over $360 a week. This company has treated me as if I'm some random person as opposed to a paying customer/policy holder. I have never been so mistreated by a company and I've never heard of an insurance company treating its policy holders so badly. I don't recommend getting insurance with this company.
