I wanted to document my experiences after having a Daikin Heat Pumps installed by Dirigo Performance Heat Pumps, Bangor, Maine. The reader should know that the technology is not new. Heat pumps are widely used throughout the country and world-as they are known for their reliability and efficiency. Additionally, Daikin covers there products under manufacturers warranty, but not installation errors. Therein lies the problem we experienced. The two inverters require coolant/refrigerant in order to perform cooling operations and heating operations. The coolant system is a closed looped system and should not leak or need to be refilled according to “Daikin manufacturing.” If it does leak within the first few years it is an indication of poor workmanship-during the installation. These chemicals are notoriously bad for our environment and dangerous to humans. Further, as the system begins to leak it will eventually cause the products to fail in their general operations. Which is why we had to call Dirigio Performance Heat Pumps only 2 years after purchasing the units. The owner “Ed” after discussion, insists it “must be a bad coil.” On year three, after having Dirigo Performance Heat Pumps install and repair the units already-the units are failing again. As a home owner, I found a filter jammed into the cooling fins, and the cooling fins bent and destroyed. The filter should just rest on a tract, easily. However, The upstairs inverter unit leaked into my house, because the cooling fins were bent and broken by the filter. Instead of working with the warranty, Ed charges families over 500 dollars to refill refrigerant that should have never leaked in the first place. Additionally, upon installing the unit, Ed could not detect “a bad coil,” or a “refrigerant leak;” which the machine error codes indicated 2 years later. I want to warn you to stay away from Dirigo Performance Heat Pumps if you don’t want to pay excess-for products under warranty.

This system ran flawless for 35 months, The factory coil started leaking, proven with an electronic leak detector. This customer does not seam to understand the one year parts and labor warrantee and a 12 year part warranty.

I offered to come see what was going on with the system cost free, and based upon what was the cause I would repair at no cost if it was indeed my work that failed.

As far as the jammed filter, I may have done that when re installing the cover, but I don't know .  I take care of my clients with great service, not sure what is going on with Nick
