Berlin City Toyota in Portland: The "EASY" thing to do here is look at the BBB reviews and complaints. It's "EASY" for them to stack the fake five star reviews on most other review sites. We walked out after encountering a rude sales rep who claimed we were "wasting my (his) time" by wanting to take a test drive to determine if we wanted to purchase a Rav4 or Highlander. Apparently his time wasn't being wasted by looking at his phone behind their ************ as we approached. Pretty unique salesmanship, don't you think? The entire encounter lasted 3 minutes. Competition in **** took the time to help ** and even though we weren't expecting to buy that day - just test drive - we ended up buying a NEW Highlander. They let ** drive a new Rav4 and new Highlander so we could compare, even though we were looking for Certified used ones, . Very happy with the deal too - 9% below MSRP ON A NEW HIGHLANDER. STAY AWAY FROM ANY BERLIN CITY.

I bought a 2022 ***** in Sept.2021 and took out an extended warranty. The cost was app.$2700.After 18 months I had only ***** miles. I am 66 and do not use the car much.I figured I would have only about ****** after 9 years so I called to cancel the extended warranty.I thought the warranty started after the new car warranty ends but they started the day I bought the car.I am willing to pay for a fee to cancel.I lost $695 because they started the warranty form day 1.How can they start the warranty on day 1 when the car is already warrantied for the 1st 3 years. It is a new CAR.This is unethical.I would happy to get half of the $695 they TOOK.I have sent 3 emails and they have not responded,

C **** and **** saved my wife and I THOUSANDS!!!My wife and I drove 2.5 hours this weekend and had the pleasure of working with Berlin City. It was worth the trip! We got the best price on a 2020 ***** CRV in all of New England (I looked everywhere) and received the best car buying experience I ever encountered. Cliff and **** were super knowledgeable, not pushy at all, and extremely friendly. If you are shopping around for a car right now, then you know this is extremely hard to find from a salesman. Berlin city stands by their cars as well, offering a 4 day return policy and ***** mile bumper to bumper warranty. We have already told all our friends and family that theyve gotta see Cliff and **** for their next car! 10/10 A+++ experience!!

Terrible dealership in every respect. Dishonest. Pushy. Avoid salesman *****. Could barely read, angry if you questioned anything he said.. Now they're trying to charge 2k above MSRP. In the same breath talking about how dishonest all other dealers are and that they charge more to maintain they're integrity. You must have to be dumb to work there. It was easy to walk out, went to *** toyota in Saco, much better experience. Sold to me 1k below MSRP, $500 deposit, car arrived yesterday.

The service is the worst I've ever experienced in my life, I'm 72. My car was brought to Berlin City Toyota, Portland on September 28. Today it's November 18 and I still don't have it back. I haven't even heard from them in almost a month. At that time the service manager said that they still didn't know how to fix the problem (check engine light) but they were waiting for parts so they could continue their method of trial and error. I gave up trying to call the service department because they have NEVER picked up the phone or returned a call. There should be an option for giving zero stars.

My car was towed in on July 16 and sat on the lot for two and a half weeks. No service, just a series of texts from the manager saying they were going to try and get it in to look at it. Two weeks later, nothing. So, I then made an appointment, and when I arrived, they told me they wouldn't look at the car for another week to 10 days. I then attempted to have the car towed, after 20 days, to a different mechanic. When the tow truck arrived, they refused service. The hood had been torn off, the windshield faring and wipers removed and all parts deposited in the back seat of the car. With the hood unsecured, it was untowable under my insurance company's terms. What kind of dealership refuses to work on your car for 20 days, lies to you about it, then damages it so you can't bring it elsewhere? What am I supposed to do now?

To those who are thinking about buying a Lexus, I hope my story will make you think twice before making your decision. I bought my car brand new 2018 RX 350 and signed up for the extended 8 year warranty plan.I worked as a frontline healthcare worker outside of Portland, I had a contract in Maine. I was merging onto the freeway, going the freeway speed. I had to slam hard on my brakes due to a car in front of me going under the speed limit. My airbags deployed on both sides of my car, didnt hit a thing. I had my car towed to the nearest Lexus dealership which was in Portland called Berlin City of Toyota. My car was towed over the weekend. I called on Monday making sure my car was there. The receptionist said my car wasnt there which made me panic. I called Tuesday morning and luckily my car was there. I spoke with *************************** who immediately made accusations saying, theres dirt on my tires. Well its mud season in Maine, I live rurally. Then she brought up, theres scratches on the back of your car, which have always been there. Your typical scratches you would get when a car brushes by you in a parking lot. Not even asking how I got the scratches and dirt on my tires, she immediately insinuated I went off the road or hit something. She told me someone from corporate would be in next week to inspect my car. One week passed by, she then told me she has no idea when this inspector would come. She stated he was on vacation and is the only inspector in the *********** area. The dealership was to give me a loaner vehicle to use while my car was to be inspected. The day I was supposed to get my loaner vehicle, ***** called me end of the day telling me the dealership is not allowed to give me a loaner. As I tried to call back instantly, she didnt answer. I then spoke with the director of the dealership *********************************. **** told me, we are not allowed to give you a loaner. Corporate told us to not touch your car. He told me to get a rental car where I would be reimbursed later down the road. He ended the conversation with, good luck. I told my car insurance agency what had happened and they could not file a claim as there was no accident. I got in touch with corporate also known as the ************************ where I have spent hours and hours on the phone with. Every time I spoke with someone about the incident, each person brought up, you were in a collision. No that is not what happened. I had to continuously repeat my story. They told me it would take up to the 30 days for my car to be inspected from the date the incident happened. I also had to explain how the dealership refused to give me a loaner while my car was sitting at the dealership as this is a warranty issue, I should not have to get a rental car. In the area I was living in, rental cars were sold out everywhere. They were out of rental cars for weeks. After talking to different people, I finally got in touch with *********************** who got me a loaner from the dealership. My car was finally inspected 23 days after the incident happened. Figures since corporate takes their sweet time. Well I only had the loaner for 2 weeks. The dealership told me I was to return the vehicle as soon as possible. I then tried to ask questions and seek what was going on with my vehicle. If they wanted the loaner, they must have information about my car. Both ***** and **** told me I had to go through corporate for questions. I called ***** back, apparently she was on vacation just like everyone else seems to be. I then called corporate and apparently through all the people who work in corporate, no one could talk to me. I then called ***** and **** back for answers and all they kept telling me was to return the loaner car and that I would hear back from the legal department in 30 days from when the car was inspected. I was to receive a report to see what my car interpreted the day the incident happened. Because all they care about is the almighty dollar and no one wanted to deal with me. 30 days came, no word from Lexus. I made phone calls to ***** and **** from the dealership and ***** from corporate. No one answered. 5 days later, I then sent an email out telling them I need answers as they were all ignoring me. ***** finally responded in the email with, I only facilitate the inspection. The legal department will communicate with you, I have no other information to offer you. I then called corporate where they told me someone will reach out to me the next day about my car. I finally got the report from Lexus. Most vague letter anyone has ever written. I called corporate back asking if this is legit a report as it seemed like something someone typed up free handed. I waited 2 months for this report telling me, due to the grass and dirt on your left rear tire and components underneath your undercarriage, the *** Supplemental Restraint System is a predictive system where the vehicle motion interpreted a rollover, your airbags were commanded to deploy. If slamming on your brakes makes your side airbags goes off, then everyones airbags would be going off. So why didnt my front airbags go off either? The day I picked up my car to take it somewhere else, parts were taken out and left in the back of my car. As I mentioned previously, the dealership was not allowed to touch my vehicle. No one told me parts were taken out and they were not even put back in place as shown in the pictures below. The day I bought my Lexus, I thought I would be in good hands. Lexus holds a high reputation as we all have heard. After experiencing this, Im disgusted I drive a Lexus now. During the course of the 2 months Lexus put me through, I felt sick to my stomach with the way the *****, ****, ****** and all of corporate treated me. The amount of stress these people put my family and I under. I even picked up extra hours to pay off the car repairs. Things would have gone differently if the dealership was respectful from the beginning and they chose not to be.I have been to 4 different dealerships in the country, Nevada, Alabama, *************, and Maine. This dealership is by far the worst. Save yourself the trouble and time, dont even make an effort going or calling this dealership.Moral of the story, dont purchase a Lexus especially from the Berlin City of Toyota. Unless you want to be treated like garbage.
