I hired College Hunk Junk Removal to pick up four things to be disposed of on 06/11/25. The resulting bill was much higher than the original estimate. The base price for filling 1/6 of their truck was $309. There was a $150 extra charge for a heavy item, even though the website hadnt indicated what heavy meant or how much it would be. There was also a charge of $35 for removing a mattress, which was never stated online. Additionally, a $45 charge for label? No one seems to be able to tell me what this is. I have called customer service twice and both times have been told only the local office can handle my complaint, but I have no way of reaching the local office.

I contracted the College Hunks to Pack, Load, Transport, and Deliver my House hold goods from my apartment in **********, ** to *********, **. As I have unpacked my personal property, I have discovered that no protection of any kind (Packing Paper, Bubble Wrap, etc) has been utilized to pack my property. Approximately, 75 of 80 boxes contained no protection and most were not packed to capacity. I have identified where items such as Bleach, Liquor, and ****************** were packed with my property which would void any insurance coverage I purchased. Most of the boxes were not packed to capacity and thus were crushed in transit. Based on the feedback from the College Hunks **************************** the quality of service I have received is not in line with their corporate values. In my opinion, I should be refunded the entire cost of the Pack ~ $2,500 as my property was treated as Junk. I was overcharged to poorly pack move my property. I have filed a claim and waited the requested 5 business days for the Franchise to respond.

We hired College Hunks for our move from ************* to D.C. on March 18, 2025. We were quoted $750. Our appointment was for 8am.The movers arrived at 12:30 PM. We hired 3 movers but 1 was allergic to our cats and unable to do his job. As the movers began loading our items, they said we were ahead of schedule and asked if we wanted more items loaded. When the 2 movers were moving the last 2 pieces of furniture, they told us we were running over time, despite telling us before we were ahead. He said he would charge us another hour but not inform us of cost. When the movers began driving to D.C., traffic was heavy because it was rush hour. When the movers arrived at our new home in D.C., before unloading any furniture, they informed us the cost was $1300 because it took more time than expected. My partner asked them to speak to their manager, specifically because (1) a mover was unable to assist due to allergies, so it was only 2 people moving and 1 was a trainee; (2) the movers arrived 4.5 hours late; and (3) due to the mover's lateness and being down a person, the time they drove into D.C. had more traffic. The movers waited 45 minutes waiting for their manager to call. When the manager called, the movers informed us the manager said we would have to $1400 they would take our belongings away in the truck. They provided us with an addendum that stated the initial quote was incorrect due to "unforeseen circumstances" and asked us to agree to the new quote of $1300-$1400. Much of this furniture has been passed down in my family for 3 generations and is not replaceable. Given their threat to hold our belongings hostage, I signed the addendum under duress. I feared that if I did not, I would not get my furniture back or the company would charge more for its release. The movers required I pay the fee before unloading. I paid $1327 instead of $750.

I used College Hunks to help me move in September 2024. I opted to pay an additional $99 for increased insurance should something get broken during the move. The movers broke my bed frame. I have tried to contact them four times, through the form on their website and by calling the numbers they provided to me, but have not received a response.

This was the worst moving experience. Dates of packout could not be confirmed. Multiple texts, messages and emails were not returned. Two very young movers showed up; told us they'd just learned of job an hour prior. They had not been given any if the details. Move took much longer than anticipated-- at one point we just called it quits as $$ was quickly adding up. HUGE discrepancy between first quite and then quote given day of. Was told that the "estimator" who came out weeks prior had no right to be giving us a verbal estimate ("it's not his job.") **** was broken, black oil stains left on new carpet. And we STILL had to move a bunch if stuff ourselves the next day.

On 2/29 College Hunks came to do a move from my old home in **********, ** to my new home in **********, MD. I was quoted $746.25. The day of the move came and the movers were over an hour late and one smelled of liquor. When the move was over, I was told that my total would be $1,156 due to "traffic." They claimed that the extra hour they stayed was $199 but I should not have been charged for that extra hour since they themselves were an hour late. It truly seemed as if the drunk mover was making things up so that he could charge me more since he seemed disoriented and wanted to go home. I also found that 2 of my TVs were broken in the move (the movers removed the TVs from the home, packaged them, loaded them, and unloaded them. We did not touch the TVs at all). We decided to file a claim for 1 of the TV's since the other was older and the mover said they'd face consequences for breaking more than 1 TV. I received an email from Move Operations Manager, ***************************** on March 4th asking me to send him pictures so that the claim could be started. I sent him the pictures and supporting information that same day. I have not heard anything back since. I also reached out to corporate on several occasions to understand why I was charged an extra $380 with a promise that I would hear back soon, It has now been over a month with no one reaching out to discuss. I would like a refund of $909.75; $409.75 for the extra made-up fees and $500 for the brand new 65-inch TV that they broke.

1/20/24, I booked College Hunks to load my uhaul on 3/15 (Confirmation ************** three men arrived. I walked them through my stuff, pointing out I had a few boxes marked Top Box and they were to be loaded on the very top. I was advised the 20 ft uhaul I booked was too small. I upgrade to a 26 ft. They waited 1 hour (that I paid for) for me to switch out uhauls. Before they started packing, I again pointed out I had Top Box, Do NOT stack on top of this boxes. I was stationed inside and would point out the Top Boxes. My sister was stationed at the base of the truck and would again point out any Top Boxes. 3/16, the unloaders called me into the truck. The College Hunk movers had disregarded my Top Boxes and stacked them wherever. One such box containing my kitchen aid mixer was stacked on the very bottom of 6-7 other boxes. While there is no outward damage, the motor inside is damaged. I called College Hunks immediately to file a complaint 3/16. The woman took my complaint (claim *******). I have followed up with the company multiple times. I was told it takes 3-5 business days for them to get back to me. I last followed up with them on 3/22. I was told they would mark my case urgent and would receive a response immediately I never received a call back. I will not settle for anything less than a full refund for the cost of the move, $596, and that doesnt include the $60 I tipped the men and the extra costs involved in upgrading from a 20 ft truck to a 26 ft truck. About 1/3 of the truck was empty/dead space so there was literally no excuse for what they did. This isnt a case of a random item(s) being damaged during a move. The movers willfully and intentionally disregarded direct and clear instructions given to them multiple times throughout the loading.

An update, I should have received a response from the company by the 22nd. On the 22nd I called and was told they would mark it urgent and I would receive a call back. I never did so I filed the BBB complaint. Today is the 28th and I have yet to hear back from the company.

I have reached out additional times since filing the BBB complaint. I submitted a general inquiry through their website and was sent a list of names to contact and was told, "We apologize for any inconvenience. We went ahead and notified the local office to have one of our managers contact you in regards to following up with a resolution for the Claim Case #*******. The manager will be reaching out to you as soon as possible." That was on April 15; however, no one ever called or emailed me. I have since emailed everyone in the list of names and am waiting for a response.

I engaged College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving (the firm) to move my belongings from my old home to my new one (approximately 1 mile away). I was given a price of ~$200 which I found more than reasonable, and the move was scheduled. On the day of the move the firm's employees notified me that in order to complete my move they would need to charge me around $90 for additional bins, a tv protection case, and a mattress bag. I informed them that none of this was mentioned during my initial call where I was given an estimate, that I would not be paying a hidden fee, and that I would like them to call their managers. They did so and the management informed me that the would have to insist on the fees. I then told the firm's employees that they could move everything but the mattress and tv, and had already consolidated things so extra bins would not be necessary. I also informed them that I was displeased with their service and would not be using their company in the future. The manager on the phone then informed the firm's employees that since I would not be using them in the future they could take everything that had already been loaded in the truck out, and leave without completing the move. He also informed me that I would be refunded my deposit. While I am glad to receive a refund, I have also incurred other expenses for their non-performance on our contract. I sought multiple parking permits to reserve space for the truck (amounting to $110), now must get an alternate truck to finish the move, and have sustained an injury in the course of moving my things. The lack of professionalism, and predatory behavior by the firm are alarming and I must insist on restitution. While I prefer to seek redress through informal channels my current attempts to speak with the firm's management have been met with stonewalling and lies by its employees who refused to furnish the names and numbers of management. Barring a settlement, I will be taking legal action against the firm.

We selected College Hunks to help us move on 9 Nov 2023. Our team was extremely rude addressing me by “hey you,” used delay tactics to run out the clock, and could not actually complete our move. We had to hire another company to actually get the job done. We paid this other company another $1000 to actually move our items up the stairs where we wanted them in the house and they were able to without any problems. The College hunks team told us they cannot get those particular items up the stairs. Most were on their phones during the move time and had to be told by my husband how to lift and move items. My husband and I ended up doing most of the heavy lifting because they told us they couldn’t. They also broke an item during the move and only compensated us for $50 despite showing a receipt that the item cost $149.99 and the fact that we paid for their insurance AND the extra $30 we paid for the extra box protection for this particular item. The $50 is an insult. I have called their call center almost everyday for nearly a month now, sent emails to the person in charge of the claim, and even reached out to the person who did our initial estimate. The employee in charge of the claim has yet to respond to my emails or voicemails. The call center says they will send a message to the local managers. I am still waiting on a response from a manager. I am hoping BBB can assisting me with getting some resolution with College Hunks for the horrible experience we had and the fact that we had to pay another moving company to actually complete the job.

I filed a liability claim on November 20th for a representative from the Rockville, MD branch to respond back to me (within 3-5 business days). It has now been 23 business days, and no one has contacted me about the horrible service that was provided to me or the damages I have reported. See below for a timeline of events of the service of which you have provided: November 18th: 2 College Hunk Movers were scheduled to arrive from 2-4PM EST; they arrived 2 hours late past 6PM EST. I requested a full-service move (loading, transportation, and delivery), which was estimated for 3.75 hours. The team spent the entire 3.75 hours loading only and failed to complete the job the same day. One of the team members was too tired and the team leader (******* *****) asked me, the client, to assist in the move that I was paying for. Your company charges per hour, and you sent someone who could not perform the job which inevitably extended the service hours. Never have I heard of a moving company that has asked their client to help assist in their job. All of my furniture was loaded onto the truck and taken to your facility because the job could not be completed that same day. November 19th: I was told by ******* that someone would contact me the next day at 10:30 AM EST on the confirmation of the team's arrival at the delivery site. I was not called back until 40 minutes before the team arrived at 3:30 PM EST. When the new team opened the truck's doors half of my items were scattered across the truck bed and major damages occurred. Your team explicitly stated the previous day's crew did not properly load and fasten my property. The mishandling of transport led to the damages. After the unloading of my items, your crew by direction of your operations manager, requested I pay an additional 2 hours of service ($298); a job that should have been completed the day before if your company had sent a competent team. I require a refund and payment on damages.
