On February 12, 2024, I wrote a $610.47 check as a deposit for work to be done in my home by Basement Systems USA. Basement Systems USA (Ashley) called and said they had lost my check. Therefore, I called my bank and put the check on hold. The cost of the hold on the check was $35.00. Basement Systems (Ashley) agreed to reduce the total bill by $35.00, which brought the down payment down to $599.97. On February 12th, I made the down payment of $599.97 to Basement Systems using a credit card. The work was eventually scheduled for February 19th, but in advance, I decided to cancel the work and asked Basement Systems to refund my deposit. I talked with Basement Systems (Ashley) about refunding my deposit, and she said I would see my refund in "five to seven days." After not receiving the deposit this week (2/23), I called Basement Systems and got a different story. They (Ashley) now say a manager has to review the case and she will let me know if my deposit will be refunded. This is unacceptable since I was originally told the deposit was underway and would be completed in "five to seven days". I want my deposit of $599.97 refunded to my credit card as promised.
