We have enjoyed the Hunt A Killer subscription service for 3 years (6 6-month subscription box sets). We initially purchased it as a gift for our daughter, who is now at college. As a result, for the last year, we saved each monthly box until we'd received all 6 boxes, which coincided with when our daughter was home from school. We did this with the boxes that were sent from July through December of 2023. Imagine our surprise and disappointment when we opened Box 1 and it was the exact same story as the one we just completed!!! I emailed customer service and received responses that apologized, but they couldn't refund the last subscription because of the length of time that passed - and then I received an email explaining that they were under new ownership. So essentially, customer service took a major back seat during this transition - which would explain why a duplicate subscription was even sent in the first place. We thoroughly enjoyed these games over the 2 1/2 years we played them, but the duplicate shipment and lack of customer service has left a very bad taste in our mouth and we will never purchase anything from this company again, nor will we recommend it to anyone.Review from Kyle B

I ordered 2 item from there website for Christmas present. I was sent the wrong items. I have tried to contact Sam via email 3 times with no response. The number on their website goes to no one, and the number shown here goes to no one. I don't think I will ever see that $80 again. Complete scam.Review from Leslie F

I ordered a complete box set on 11/30 and they still have not sent it. Several emails to customer service were fruitless and they stopped responding. I received partial order of the less expensive item so I can't charge back with my bank? Horrible experience. The box set was for my mother's bday battling cancer and I had to tell her I was ******* and to not expect the box. She feels horrible. She said she was going to frame the piece she did get.Review from Alys A

They will take your money for a subscription and never send it on time. Takes several months for them to respond to requests for the missing items. After a delay of over 3 months of emails due to no product and no response they finally told us it was "out of stock". They refused to issue a full refund. They might be good for a one time purchase but avoid the subscription like the pandemic.Review from Kerry D

I was a subscriber since 2019. I stayed on because it was a fun product. My annual renewal went through in April. Shortly thereafter I found out (not from an email from the company or any actual communication; I just heard people complaining on Facebook) that they were no longer making new boxes. I had already paid up front for a year however. Eventually through their support channel they agreed to refund me for the boxes they were never on planning on sending me. But they only sent me 5 of the 6 boxes that I did pay for. They have been saying since June 6th that they are waiting on a piece that goes in the box. It is now September 7th and not only have they not shipped the box, but they have also stopped responding to questions on both their support channel as well as their Facebook group. I found this page while looking for their address, hoping a piece of snail mail would get their attention, and figured I would chime in with others who are frustrated. Prior to the issues this year, this was a great company and I really enjoyed their product. It is too bad that they didn't scale correctly and that this end has soured my years of good experience with them.Review from Thomas M

Unsubscribing seems impossible. We ordered six months and they billed us again without notice at the end of the six months. Our account page say there are no orders or subscriptions. Emails to the support address go unanswered. Scam.Review from Daniel R

Subscription process is a misleading scam. They say they'll send you 6 installments of the same series and that's the whole subscription, but then they renew the subscription you for new series without asking. The website also says it doesn't recognize my email when I try to log in to cancel the subscription. The thing is I stored my email and password in my web browser's key chain, so that's definitely the email I used. They're basically the boardgame company equivalent of a gym. Easy to subscribe, impossible to leave!Review from Colleen M

I had a subscription with hunt a killer and paused it for 3 months on December 11th. I received confirmation email that showed I pausrd for 3 months. On January 13th I received a charge on my credit card for $203 even though I paused my subscription. I would be very careful doing business with this company I have emailed 7 times And called numerous times with no response. Be very careful with this company cause they will do anything to get your money it seems.Review from Jay P

I ordered a 1 year subscription (spanning parts of 2021 & 2022) and received all my shipments on time, nothing was ever missing. I found it easy to see the notice prior to purchase that this would auto renew if I didn't proactively cancel before hand, canceling was easy and no further charges were made to my credit card, so I think many people experience issues because they aren't paying attention and just clicking through without reading clearly stated information (wasn't even in the "fine print"!). Most subscriptions auto-renew if not cancelled within a certain time before the renewal date, so to claim this practice is out of the usual or scammy by HAK is unwarranted. The storylines, evidence and pacing were all very good. You can tell there was obviously an effort to ensure the quality of the game was high, to make the physical "evidence" items, clues and characters as realistic and engaging as possible. I think they were easier to solve than I was expecting but overall very enjoyable nonetheless. Kudos to the teams that create these kits and everything that goes into them!Review from Haley C

I had a similar issue as others have had. I used a gift card and got my boxes for a year. They automatically renewed it bc it asked me for a card whenever I signed up. However, the card they used was canceled and was no longer active. I even received an email that said my card was declined yet they still somehow charged me and said they would not refund me. I had even sent at least three emails asking them to please cancel it and didn't receive an email back for a few weeks. I don't think this is a very good way of doing business. You also can ONLY contact them through email which to me is very odd.
