In April 2023 we had Anderson Landscape Const. install several landscaping items including a blue stone patio and mahogany stairs to enter the patio from the house. The stairs were supposed to match the materials we had on our existing mahogany deck. However the grade of mahogany they used was a less expensive, softer, different color than the species on our deck. The wood that was used on the stairs does not match, has shrunk, is bleeding tannins on the patio and has stained the white *** on the stairs.The stairs were not installed well and are not wearing as expected for a $7,000 set of stairs with two risers. Examples of the poor installation are as follows: 1) they do not have an even slope and the left side slops more than the right by a very noticeable amount. 2) the nails used to secure the *** and mahogany were nails from a nail gun and were not installed correctly and are discoloring the wood. The nails in the *** are not countersunk and some are noticeably protruding. The nails used in the wood are not evenly spaced like our deck they were to match and they have discolored the wood. They look terrible. 3) there are gaps in the *** joints and in the wood joints. We have reached out to Anderson several times to get the issue resolved. The first time their sales person who was working with us said they would come out and fix it. However, the owner called the next day and told us they installed mahogany and they were not going to fix it. He said that we should go do some research on wood. Since then we have reached out repeatedly, but they are not returning our calls/texts.We would like the stairs repaired and have both the *** and wood replaced with the species of mahogany that matches our deck. The stairs also need to be installed in a professional manner. If they can't repair them we would like the amount we paid for the stairs credited back.
