We are writing this to file a formal complaint against B&D Building and Remodeling located in **********, **. In September 2024, we entered into a contract with B&D Building and Remodeling to perform construction on our living room, kitchen, guest bedroom, and guest bathroom after discussions with **** ********, president of the company, and his wife, **** ********. Demolition began on December 4, 2024, and as of today 23 April 2025 the project is still not complete and their contractual obligations are not fulfilled. The initial project manager assigned to the project provided inappropriate oversight of the sub-contractors, and the owners provided inappropriate oversight of their manager. Many aspects of the project had to be repeated because they were done improperly the first time (and still remain incomplete or poorly completed). After an email complaint to B&D on March 8, 2025, the owners agreed that there was lack of oversight of the project that led to many mistakes and promised to correct all of them. Since then, B&D has caused additional damage to our home during the last two visits and the company is now being dismissive of nearly all of our concerns. They are refusing to fulfill their contractual obligations, instead wanting to provide financial compensation for a long list of work not completed and items damaged. Acting in good faith, in order to request accurate financial compensation to both finish the project and replace damaged items, we had several contractors provide quotes. We sent B&D a detailed listing of incomplete items as well as an itemized list of damaged items and the detailed costs for each on April 17, 2025. To date, there has been no response. We are therefore left in limbo with an incomplete home renovation project. B&D is not willing to finish their work and refuses to complete their contractual obligations.Fortunately nearly all of these things are documented in emails and home security footage, and are easily proven.

    Business Response

We take all feedback seriously and feel compelled to respond, particularly given our longstanding A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, which weve maintained throughout our 40+ years in business.
During the course of this project, the Owner of our companywho is also my husband & business partnerreceived a serious medical diagnosis, which required our immediate focus. We acknowledge that this temporarily impacted our oversight of the Project Manager responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of this project.
Once we became aware of the client's dissatisfaction with the original Project Manager, we took swift action to address their concerns, assigning a new Project Mgr (who is our new business partner) to ensure the project was completed to the clients satisfaction.
We have written documentation from the client expressing satisfaction with the new Project Mgr and the improved direction of the project.Unfortunately, there was an ongoing quality control issue with the kitchen cabinetry manufacturer (a product the client selected independently, without suggestion from B&D.)
At this stage, any remaining matters related to this project will be resolved through legal counsel, and we will not have further direct communication with the client.

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********.

We feel compelled to dispute the accuracy of several parts of B&Ds response, and we offer clarification here. The first project manager left the company and was not removed from our project by B&Ds Owners; he made us aware of his departure many weeks in advance. We also never expressed any dissatisfaction with this manager while he was still working. Only after the new project manager took over were we made aware of the mistakes caused by the first ******** We were indeed very happy with the initial work performed by the second ******** however, he has been unsuccessful in correcting many of the mistakes caused by the previous team. Every time attempts were made to fix prior errors, additional damages were caused by B&D. We understand that there were and are issues with the arrival of some cabinets; we do not (and never have) held B&D responsible for this. We do hold B&D responsible for all incomplete work, for unacceptably poor workmanship, and for damages they caused throughout the project, including but certainly not limited to appliances, flooring, and cabinets that were delivered in excellent condition and then ruined during and after installation. Our relationship with B&D crumbled when B&D disrespected us, dismissed our concerns, refused to accept responsibility for their faults, and allowed their employees to verbally harass us in our own home. We have consulted many home improvement professionals who all agree that the items we declare unacceptable and damaged are, in fact, unacceptable, damaged, and not up to industry standards. B&D chose to offer us a payout rather than complete the project, yet simultaneously requested payment in full. When provided with a detailed list of incomplete tasks and damaged items with the costs to complete or repair/replace, B&D chose not to respond. After we sent a follow-up email, B&D decided they would no longer work with us in good faith and insisted on communicating through attorneys. Attached are photos of some of the damages and poor craftsmanship.

    Regards,
