On July 7, 2025, I went to Scoot Scoot New England to buy a moped. The sales guy, ***** told me the rides were new and worked great. He told me if I wanted to register it, it would be $50. Then I spoke to ***** inside (he does phones and admin I guess) and he provided me the paperwork stating the ride is practically brand new, etc. I ask about registration since the website says it's $40, ***** says they're not doing it anymore. Fine. He tells me it's $1899 for a 49CC Ice Bear (Chinese Moped Senlong model). I ask about the advertised discount of 4% with cash, he goes "oh yeah/I forgot". With the discount it's 1823, I get paperwork. Since the day I bought it, the ride hasn't worked or had some kind of trouble. First it had to be recharged (Same Day), then they sent someone to come get it to 'fix it' (July 9) and I went with my neighbor to go get it the next day (July 10). 6 days later it dies again (July 16). Two days later I get it jumpstarted enough for one trip (July 18) and bring it to a shop the next day (July 19). The mechanics tell me the starter switch needs to be replaced, so I pay for that. They also charge the battery, which they inform me is from a ******! Basically I'll have to change that out too A follow-up appointment (July 23) reveals the moped has no CDI (capacitor discharge engine)! Another reason it keeps dying or shorting out! This ride is definitely from a chop shop or scrap yard. Wherever it's from I paid for a new ride, not a mishmash. Had I read the online reviews before going to the store, I can guarantee I never would have bought it. Given the repairs I've already gotten done, and what it'll need to be a safe, proper ride, I am definitely asking for a refund.

******* ***** bought a brand new 2025 Jax50 on July 8 2025. The bike has a 100 mile warranty from us and a 6 month warranty from the manufactory. The day he bought the bike it was new and battery needed to be charged..The gentlemen has not bro9ught his bike in to be looked at. This is his 4th scooter he told us they all keep breaking on him. This is the first one he purchased from us. I believe he doesn't know how to correctly start the scooter. He can bring the scooter in and we will gladly look at it for him .I don't know what he's talking about when he said he brought the scooter in a few days ago. We have no record of that. Mr. ***** can call or bring in the scooter Mon-Fri 10-6

      Thank you

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

What I said, was that this was the 4th moped I ever had, not that they had broken down. I said the previous ones had been stolen, but they worked just fine. I kept the last one in good condition for over 2 years. I may not have mechanical skills, but my luck isn't that bad. If you check the online reviews, you'll see New England Scoot has YEARS worth of complaints about their rides not working, not just mine. (Also I meant to say July 8, not 7th. I have the paperwork to show the date). 3rd: when I got to the place to pick up the ride after it was 'fixed' on July 9th, they tried to give it to me with one of the mirrors detached. Thankfully I was with someone who also pointed it out and they replaced that. They had 2 chances to make it right, but all they did was make a few adjustments. Finally, no amount of bad luck explains the lack of a capacitor, and a ****** car battery.  The people who discovered this have a long history of working with mopeds and have no reason to lie to me about this, nor replacing the ignition switch and other issues. **** has a documented pattern of deceiving their customers and it needs to stop. A formal demand letter is on the way too. As of now in the spirit of fairness, I am asking for a refund without including repairs. Thank you.

      Regards,

      *******
