Rain water was leaking in from my chimney into my pellet stove. On Sat 1/13/24 I called Harolds Chimney Cleaning. I googled local chimney co. they came up with high review & were in ******. The man told me $69 chargeto diagnose the problem. They came out the next day, Sun, 1/14/24. They were late, then I received a call from the man heading to my home asking for directions. 2 young men showed up in a white **** van, ME license plate. They pulled out the pellet stove, then asked if they could put their latter on top of my storage bin (for height) to try and get on the roof. I said ok b careful, He went up & told me there were some broken *********** could fix it for $350 He just needed to get the material. I felt uneasy didnt seem right. I dont know if he could even reach the chimney at that slant & see that. I told him I needed to speak to the homeowners assoc. first( I live in a townhouse) he said is it the price?I said I needed to speak to them as they could be paying half of it. He came down, they both were in my kitchen &said the price was$129. I asked about it being $69 he said because he went on the roof it was a level 2. Asked if I had cash, I said no, he said he would need to charge me a $10 fee for using the credit card. He put my card in through his phone charged me the $139 did not ask me for an email address or did not give me a receipt. After they left I thought about it and I texted the phone number, that asked for directions, asked for an itemized receipt for my homeowners association and for myself. The next day he texted me a screenshot of a receipt and it was very very generic. I called the company back and was told a manager would call me back, but never did. I called them twice and they never called me back. The company name on the receipt is a totally different name and I cannot find them on the Internet. I also looked up the address for Harolds Chimney cleaning and its the address for target on ************ in ******. I was scammed.
