    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because I was forced to hire another heating company, Boulanger, and the tech from that company, *****, said there was nothing wrong with the gas valve that the second Reidy tech, Chris, wanted to charge me $500 to fix. Actually, Shaun could find nothing that needed replacing on our boiler. He simply vacuumed up the large amount of lint and dust that was all over the machine, after which everything worked fine.

My theory is that the first Riedy tech stirred up the lint and dust when he replaced the part he needed to replace to fix our leak--  and the intake valve then sucked up some lint, which caused the boiler to shut down (and to keep shutting down every time we restarted it). After the area was vacuumed clean, our boiler worked just fine. It is my assertion that the first tech should have realized the area needed vacuuming (now that we understand this, we will take care of keeping the area clean). He should have vacuumed the area as part of his service -- or at least told us we needed to do it. Had he done so, the boiler would have worked after he left. (Roger is right, the first tech, Greg, did get the boiler working before he left, but then it died shortly thereafter, as we had no hot water for showers that evening after Greg supposedly "repaired" the boiler.) Since the boiler worked fine before Greg came and did not work after he left, the problem definitely DID stem from **** (of Reidy) not doing his job properly. Even worse, the second Reidy tech was apparently trying to cheat me further by claiming we needed yet another part replaced, which the guy from Boulanger said did not need replacing. (And again, our boiler is working fine now, even though that part was not replaced.) I would like Reidy to pay the bill from Boulanger,, because we never should have had to call in a second company. Had they done their job right the first time, everything would have worked when they were done.

    Sincerely,

It is unfortunate that she has no heat. When she first spoke with John she did say that the system was running when our tech left. Thats story change by the time she finished her conversation with ****. Problem do happen as this, as I explained to her if she has her oil changed on her car and the water pump goes you cant blame the oil change. We replaced her relief valve which is the water side of her boiler. The gas valve is not even remotely connected to the part replaced. I wish I could have helped her more but she was not willing to continue with us as a service provider.

OK, well if they can't be charged for the work we had to have done due to their faulty job, then I guess I would like a refund (minus the cost of the part) for the $315 we paid them the first time they came.

    Thank you,

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and am attaching the bill we just paid Boulanger's. (We did not go to get this notarized, as I don't understand the point of having a notary sign the bill; that would prove nothing at all.) But as you can see, Boulanger'sreplaced no parts -- all they did was vacuum!-- and yet our furnace is working perfectly now, despite the last Reidy tech telling us we needed a new gas valve of some kind that would cost at least $300.

I am hoping that Reidy will refund whatever we paid for labor when their first tech, Greg, came to our home and replaced the valve that was causing the minor leak.

    Sincerely,
