This business is a complete scam and they will send bills over and over again even when an issue is resolved. We took out our water heater over a year ago and let the company know. We were told to remove the water heater from the house and they would come get the heater. It has now been a year and when we call now, they claim to have never said this. My husband called about a month ago and we were not told any information. When I called today to tell them we would not be paying the bills they have kept sending us I spoke to the rudest human I have ever talked to. He told me that when my husband called a month ago he told him to take photos of the heater outside and a photo of the new heater in our house. He proceeded to argue with me about this.

**** ****** originally contacted us prior to the replacement of the water heater on 6/28/22, at which time we advised that to close the account, documentation of the replacement or removal would need to be sent to us, as detailed on the back of our ********. At that time, he indicated he would send such documentation when the water heater was replaced. There was no further direct contact until 4/22/25, at which time Mr. ***** indicated the water heater was replaced and claimed we requested he advise us to let him know it was ready to pick up so we could close the account and remove the water heater. We never advised him to do this as we do not remove or dispose of the rental unit, as detailed on the back of our bills, and we need written documentation showing the removal or replacement to close the account. He indicated was never aware of this, or he would have sent this documentation months ago. He indicated he would be sending this information at the end of the phone call. On 5/13/25, ******* ****** contacted us to complain about the account still being billed. We advised that the documentation of the replacement or removal had not yet been received by our office. She indicated we keep saying different things every time they call, and that they were told about a year ago that we would remove the tank once it was outside. We advised that we had no record of the alleged call they claimed they made and that, as we do not have a pick-up service, we would have never indicated we would remove the water heater. Later that day, we received documentation by e-mail showing the replacement of the water heater, and we closed the account immediately and sent a reply indicating that the account has been closed.

First of all, the name is ********, so that just goes to show how smart the customer service **** are at this establishment. When we called a year ago we were 100% told that the tank had to be removed from our basement and they would take the tank. There is no way in the world we would make up such a concept as having to take the tank out to be removed by the company. WE WERE TOLD TO DO THIS! My husband spoke to a woman when he called a year ago. The person who I spoke to was a man, so he probably had no clue what the woman told me a year ago. And mind you, this man was the absolute RUDEST human being I have ever dealt with. This man should never be dealing with the public because he obviously can't handle not being a completely obnoxious condescending person. Take some advice and hire someone who can handle dealing with customers.

This business is a scam. Avoid at all costs. They put a water heater in your home and will not take it out, they will continue to charge you rental payments even if you have paid off the water heater. I am looking towards litigations at this point.Unfortunately, I was stuck with this water heater because the house I purchased already had it in the basement. There have been numerous attempts to reach out to New England Water Heater to get this out of my house, and they will not. This water heater is nearly 20 years old at this point, and they charge $20 a month.Absolute scam, AVOID. They should be taken down as a business. Disgusting.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS with NEWH--EVER!! Water heaters cost a lot, but you will be better off financing the cost of a new heater that you own than to EVER pay rent to this company. At the end of the water heater's life, you will be left to remove the old unit (which was really big & heavy in my case) and install a new one--all that at your expense. They set the rental fee to recover the company costs in about 2.5 years, and you are in a 5 year contract with very specific limitations. I purchased a property with a rental heater--turns out it was 36 years old--finally gave out and New England Water Heater offered a new contract at 3X the old rate, and they will NEVER remove the old water heater from your property. All service calls are done by independent contractors that work for NEWH. Most residential water heaters cost $600-800 and the installation will likely be that much as well--so, estimate $1200-1500. to replace your water heater (expect it to last ***** years maximum.)My advice: start a savings fund to replace your water heater now and put $50-100. a month in that fund. You will have the money when the bottom of the heater starts leaking in your basement. This way, you can pay cash when the inevitable happens: water heaters do wear out, most if them by 10 years. Do Not rent from this company.

We purchased a house in **** and the previous owner transferred ownership to this rental. We sold the home in 2022 and have been told that we have to buy this from the water heater company or keep paying the monthly rent. I was told that this water heater is worth $175 today. So paying rent for 30 years there is no depreciation. This is a complete rip off and I would never recommend this company at all. The customer service was rude, was not willing to work with me at all. They take advantage of a loop hole and the consumer pays the price. Stay far a way from this company

We pay for years for the service, and then when we actually need help we have to pay more (monthly price almost triples) and have to lock into a 5 year contract that they place on the title of the property with the Town. Then, to get out of a contract we never signed we have to 'buy out' 14 year old water heaters. Piranhas!
