I am seeking help for complaint re the following company:*************************************** are the details:8/2-Received, agreed to, and signed contract and quote with Crown roofing and masonry to replace 4 windows fully with masonry included as needed for $9500. Placed deposit of $7000 total for job based on Crowns statement that up front materials needed necessitated larger than usual deposit. *************************, who describes himself as owner of Crown is at my home to view the project and sign the proposal Approx. 8/8-*************************, from Crown states cant perform job above for $9500 proposes new project plan costing total of $24,200. Describes job as necessitating $14,700 for masonry and $9500 for windows. I did NOT accept or agree to this proposal. Proposal is 250% higher than original that I initially agreed to and for which I provided my deposit.8/11-************** (dont have full last name) from Crown, having viewed work to be done submits written proposal/plan for $22,300 total. Within this plan the breakout for work needed is almost the opposite of the plan from ****** above. $14,700 for windows and $7600 for needed masonry. No explanation was offered to explain the conflicting nature of the proposals despite my repeated questions. I Did NOT accept or agree to this proposal 8/16-I requested FULL return of my $7000 deposit given Crown is unable to complete work as initially proposed for $9500 AND that their conflicting markedly different proposals regarding work needed to be completed for the project did NOT inspire my trust in them completing the project successfully at either price.8/26-************************* from Crown, after that morning at 9AM initially stating that he would be coming to my home to return $6600 of my deposit (which I stated was a good start but I would not accept as issue resolved) arrives at approximately 10:45AM. He acknowledges he has been drinking alcohol already today and essentially tries to cajole me into accepting the $6000 in cash he now offers me as full return of my deposit. I take the $6000 in cash but let him know that I do NOT consider the issue resolved and that I will be pursuing further action if the remaining $1000 is not returned.Seeking your BBB help to retrieve the remaining $1000 owed to me thank you!*************************, LICSW ************************************************************* mobile-************ office-************

I have not heard from the business in response to successfully resolve my complaint.  ************************* from Crown asked for time to resolve, stating that he would resolve it by 9/8.  But he did not do so and has not responded to repeated contacts from me requesting an update.

************************* complaint *************** had agreed and signed a contract for $9500 for new window installation however when we tried to arrange to have these completed by third party installer he required a higher deposit from us because windows of this category are made to order so *************** and ourselves agreed that a deposit of $7000 would be required to cover all parties involved also in the mean time *************** failed to disclose to us that he had already had many previous proposals from other companies and they all turned the work down due to surrounding brick work conditions we discussed this with ***** to which he thought he didnt want to proceed and required deposit back we managed to return $6000 but $1000 was lost due to cancellation fees from the third party supplier it is the best we could do right now I hope to try resolve this matter but if we had known other companies already turned down the work so we would have to as we have proved we have returned a great amount of the deposit there is not much I can do about the remaining $1000 we are a small run company and would not be able to afford to be paying out of personal pockets due to third party and owners contracts thanks

    FAQ

    Regards,

    ******

I agreed to a deposit of $7000 after ************************* assured me that the cost of the overall project would still be $9500.  I had considered 3 prior companies for the window replacement.  NEWPRO came and AGREED/offered to do the work for $7979 (proposal attached) but later discovered that they could not get needed approval from ************** historical commission for the work since Newpro only does composite windows and wood only windows are required.  Pella AGREED to do the windows but would not accept responsibility for removal and replacement of the security bars on the windows needed to do the work.  ***** stated I would need to get someone else to do that work and did not offer any help with finding someone.  The salesman said this was a liability issue with ***** as a large company which they did not want to deal with.  I was looking for one company to take on the project, did not want to have to try to be the Project mgr myself coordinating between 2 companies.  ******* viewed the windows and declined to offer a proposal.
Indeed it was because of the prior visits of these 3 prior companies I was very pleased to hear ******************** proposal to do the work for $9500, seemed fair and reasonable.  I DID let him know about difficulty getting the windows done.  As a matter of fact, after signing the quote/proposal while walking with him outside my home, ****** may recall that I specifically mentioned to a neighbor along with ****** and said, this gentleman (******) is addressing my window replacement needs in a way and cost that no one else has been able to so far.  Id recommend him for a quote for you if you might need his services
Once again,to repeat, I signed a proposal and provided a deposit for a $9500 project.  I NEVER signed or agreed to a proposal for a job subsequently quoted at a total cost of $24,200 (250% higher) and later at $22,300.  I also NEVER signed a proposal or would agree to a project in which I was provided vastly different descriptions of the specifics of the work needed and the cost of each.  ************************* quoted masonry cost of $14,700 and window cost of $9500.  *************************,several days later quoted masonry cost of $7600 and window cost of $14,700.  This discrepancy shattered my trust that CROWN  could/would do the work successfully at any price!
I want to be sensitive to CROWNs statement that they are a small company and strapped for funds.   I requested the refund of my deposit way back on 8/16/23. I feel I have been quite patient re this process.  I have received many different messages re when and how much I would receive.  Recall ****** promising return of $6600 at 9AM on 8/26 but then showing up at my home at 10:45AM with $6000 in cash and acknowledged he was drinking alcohol.  Not the best way to do BUSINESS!   I am willing to accept a refund of $750 by 9/20/23 with the remaining balance of $250 paid by 10/1/23. I think this request is more than fair.  Following up on this issue has entailed significant time cost to me!

    FAQ

    Regards,

    ******

Crown keeping to its contract with me to fully return the additional $1000 of my deposit owed to me is not and should not be dependent on Crown receiving funds from the window supplier.
Crown made a contract with me which it was unable to deliver on so now owes me FULLY for my deposit.
Crown is not excused from holding up your end of contract with me even if Crown feels someone else (window supplier) is not holding to their contract with Crown.
Crown keeps saying it needs more time to return the funds to me.  However, Crown now has failed on 2 occasions on dates it promised to resolve/address this matter further.  Your last reply now says should not take too long more
I need a firm date for when the remaining funds will be returned that is NOT dependent on any funds returned to Crown by the window supplier.
If Crown is not in financial hardship as you claim this should not be a problem.
Indeed, it is in Crowns best interest to resolve this as soon as possible.  In addition to the Better Business Bureau I now have 2 other consumer protection news organizations that are quite interested in this story.  I dont think this type of additional exposure is in Crowns best interest.  You have seen by my persistence regarding this issue that I will NOT stop until treated fairly and legally.
If you feel this other company (window supplier) has treated you unfairly might I suggest that you consider a complaint to BBB re them.
