I started taking guitar lessons from *** Davis in my late 20s so I could impress a girl. A few years later that girl married me; *** was at the wedding. So it is safe to say his lessons worked! Now I am in my early 40s still taking lessons from him. Better yet, my 11 year old son is taking bass lessons from him as well. I have 2 more sons and when they are a little older you betcha they will be taking lessons from ***. You could say we are a *** Davis Family, talk about brand loyalty!What is truly special about *** is his belief in people. *** sees potential in you that you havent seen yet. When I played my first gig at a ****** bar, *** was in the front row with the hecklers and even bought me a beer and brought it up to the stage. When *** knew I wanted to try to start a band, he connected me with some of his other students for jam sessions and we eventually became **** Kids: a drummerless surf/funk act consisting of two guitarists and a bassist.Sadly I moved away from ****** and shortly after stopped playing guitar (this happens when you dont take lessons). Two states away, how would I ever take lessons from *** again? There is no replacement for him. Sure theres other guitar teachers, many qualified ones but they *****************. They arent your mentor/coach/best friend all in one. Like the Highlander, there can be only one ***! After a SEVEN YEAR dry spell of not playing guitar that girl I impressed, remember her? She and *** worked it out so I can take lessons from him over Zoom skipping the 5 hour round trip drive. As someone who had taken in person lessons for years the virtual lessons are just as great. I even got my old day and time slot back ;-) Sure I miss *****, but thats what day trips down to the big city are for. Youve heard of ***** right? He has a knack for translating the key of a song you want to learn into a key that works for your singing (or lack of singing) voice. Hes helped me arrange music to words I have written in the songwriting process. *** has the same energy and enthusiasm at 9am lessons as he does at 2pm lessons and 9pm lessons (I've had them all.) Whether you are looking to be a human karaoke machine and play the Top 10 at Open Mic or take the time to actually understand what you are playing he teaches it. As I mentioned before, my favorite part of lessons with *** is the occasional jam session. Nothing makes me a proud papa like taking a lesson with my son and learning a song together.
