UpCell has been selling my personal information, including my full name, personal cell number, place of work, and title (HR Director) to 3rd parties. These 3rd parties are primarily Employee Benefit companies that have been reaching out to me on my person number to solicit me for benefits for my job. They appear to sell information to these 3rd parties for cold call sales under the guise of it being valid business contacts, but they have not sourced this from people that have consented to be contacted. I have been careful to keep my personal and work life separate, and am positive that I have not submitted this combination of information to any outside parties. Furthermore, I've not authorized the use of my information for their profit and have not given permission to be contacted. This is not only costing me data and time to receive these calls, but it feels unsafe and invasive. This began last week (roughly August 20th), and since then I have received 3 phone calls asking for me by name, knowing my job, and knowing where I work, and soliciting their services. It was very unsettling and slightly creepy as these were out of context calls on my personal number. The last one occured today, and I asked who he got my information from as I keep getting these calls. He revealed that he got my information from a company called UpCell who sells data and lists for sales. On their website, there is no business address, customer service support number, or clear way to report that they need to remove you from their lists. UpCell seems to use this as a business practice so readily that the first response on their customer service chat provided a link to "opt-out" from selling your personal data and having their customers contact you. Since I have never Opted-IN, so I should not have to Opt-Out to keep them from selling my personal information. Additionally, when requested, CS *** didn't want to provide their mailing address or legal name for me to make a BBB complaint.
