"Male Owner of Cafe Josephine tells Black Female Customer, "Don't Come Back...Not the Restaurant for You." My Sister loves Café Josephine's charbroiled oysters. I treat her to lunch there so she can enjoy the charbroiled oysters and anything else on the menu. But today was an off day for the Café...limited lunch menu due to lack of ingredients and first dozen of charbroiled oysters overcooked. I am allergic to shellfish, so I normally order a burger, but the kitchen had no ground beef so burgers, chop steak, etc. was off the menu. The waiter kindly suggested the tuna dish and I agreed but tuna was tough...not appealing. Waiter provided check for meal, and I placed my credit card with the check. I was okay with paying for the entire meal even if I did not eat the tuna...I ordered it. Unknown to me, the waiter requested to remove the tuna from the check and Café Josephine's owner said he would handle the matter. Mr. Owner of Café Josephine rudely approached our table and said the meal is free...you apparently do not like the food here...so you should not come back...this is not the restaurant for you. My response...I do not want a free meal, here is the check and my credit card. Mr. Owner of Café Josephine again rudely said, this is not the restaurant for you...do not come back. I'm like...What the What? Then I look around the room and noticed, we were the only Black customers. The waiter was very apologetic, but it was not his fault...I gave him 25% tip and left the restaurant, and you know what...Café Josephine in Sunset is not the restaurant for me because I will spend my money with an establishment that will treat customers with great service. And I encourage all reading this communication to stay away from Café Josephine in Sunset...an establishment that does not value its customers. Or maybe I should say its Black customers. What has happened to customer service? Instead of having a discussion if the Owner was concerned about our meal...Mr. Owner of Café Josephine said this is not the restaurant for you...do not come back. Really?
