On 11/7/2022 at 7 am a backhoe working on the street belonging to this company tore 2 ******************* from my house, one for *** and one for ***** I witnessed this event. The company acted cooperative at first, sending texts that they had contacted the regular customer service line for ***. I ended up contacting *** to get their line fixed as i was unable to preform my job which is remote for several days waiting for this company to contact ***. They then told us the other line belonged to ***. Candeau Industries refused to deal with the *** line they tore down after several attempts by both my partner and i to communicate with them, leaving the cable they tore down hanging from my house. They are now refusing to answer us at all regarding this matter, seeming to think its my responsibility to handle damage they caused to my property.

    ************  70002

    Dear BBB/Greater New Orleans Area:

In response to this complaint made by ************************* of *****************************************************, **  ***** submitted on Nov 30th and assigned ID No. ********

First off the person reporting this is NOT a customer of mine.  Im a licensed COMMERCIAL contractor and I do not engage in contracts with Residential customers.  My company has several pieces of equipment on rent with the civil work being performed in this area.  Sometimes my employees are using them sometimes the higher tier contractors employees are.  Further Im not sure of this November 7th date being used by the customer.  To the best of my knowledge on October 26th - either this person or her partner or both contacted one of my supervisors regarding these wires.  He was told that the 2 residents work from home and it was very important to get *** back up but they do not use and werent aware of *** wires until this time.  My supervision gave at least one of the women the company that would be handling this the company thats contracted to call in the DOTTIES(LA ONE CALLs) Im a lower tier on this project and out of PURE DECENCY I went above and beyond contacting *** Communications the morning of October 26th  (Ill attach transcripts from the *** chats since thats how you proceed in reporting issues with ***). *** ACTUALLY came out THAT DAY (youll find this information on the 2nd transcript from my *** COMM chat of October 27th - but no resident was home and from what I was told by *** customer service LIVE chat someone needs to be home when work is being performed.  Before I learned this; I had wrongly assumed that *** failed to show up.  I contacted *** again by the only method to report this which is LIVE CHAT-  I believe the next day after learning the line had not been repaired as promised and thats when I learned that *** DID IN FACT SHOW up but the residents did not answer their door.  (During the second chat with *** I gave the residents mobile number so the repairman could contact if no answer).  I did receive a follow-up text from the complaining parties partner stating the line was fixed on October 28th, 2022 (That would be the appointment listed on the 2nd chat with *** from October 27th, 2022).

Further and again, out of pure decency - we had offered to remove the *** line from the home based on prior information given to us by the residents saying the line was inactive.  With stipulation that this would need planning - not being an Electrical Contractor Im Civil Construction we dont have on hand at the worksite the safety ladders and insulated cable and wire cutting tools required for this type of work.  This requires scheduling, specific electrical work safety precautions and my staff thats educated on this type of work with the **** compliant tools involved.

Now I see from the letter you all provided me The CUSTOMER is stating its a LIVE WIRE.  Since she is stating its a LIVE WIRE.  Neither I, nor anyone in my company can schedule removing this wire from the home WITHOUT a signed and notarized release from the HOMEOWNER  NOT THE TENANTS.

I can provide the texts between myself and the complaining parties partner where I sent all of the information *** provided me (including the transcripts *** provided).  I also have an inappropriate and threatening text from the person who wrote you all this letter the text being from this past SUNDAY MORNING November 27th, 2022 at 10:46 a.m. if yall want to see that one too. In the meantime the two chats should provide the information needed for this without all the fluff.

    Sincerely,

    *******************************, CEO

    Customer Answer

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

It does not matter if im a client of yours or not, your worker damaged my property.  It is your responsibility to remove the wire you left hanging from my house.  I did not damage the line, YOU did. Further, I am the one who contacted *** to fix the other line, although we do appreciate the effort you put into it.  Im not sure how you consider yourself a reputable company if you refuse to respond to our repeated requests to simply correct the damage your company did.  Your employee and yourself promised to fix the line and then decided to just ignore us.  Regardless of what you have to do to correct the damage so there is not a line hanging off my house that your company caused is not my responsibility.  We appreciate you correcting the issue.

    Regards,

    *************************

In response to the reply letter from the complainant I received in the mail yesterday - I'm staying with my initial response however (according to the phone call I received recently from AT&T regarding the request to remove the downed AT&T line) the line should already be removed.  If they have not - the complainant is more than welcome to call the number provided below and do as instructions provided below say.
