Before bringing my sewing machine to be fixed, I called to ask if they work on Montgomery Ward machines and they said yes. I then asked what the procedure was and they said it was $199.99, and they send it to their Baton Rouge store on Wednesdays to fix, then it is returned the following Wednesday. I brought my machine in on February 2nd in Lafayette, paid the amount plus tax, and the lady asked how attached to my machine was I and I said, “very”. She said it might cost more if they have to get parts, but they would call me if they needed. When they called the following week to tell me my machine was ready (Lafayette store), I was excited and asked, “no extra cost?”. She said no, then she said, let me see what the ticket says. That’s when I found out it couldn’t be fixed due to the gears inside being broken. When I went back to pick it up (I live an hour away), the man told me he couldn’t give me a cash refund due to me writing two checks. (I split the difference and wrote a check from two different accounts). He said since it was Friday, didn’t have authorization and couldn’t get in touch with the person, said he would call first thing Monday morning and I would probably have to give my debit card info so they could credit it. He had my receipt and I asked him how I could prove I paid, so he made a copy of the receipt and gave me back my original. I told him to write his name on it when he wrote the number to the store. So I left the store with my broken machine fully trusting that I would get my refund. I thought giving them my debit card info was risky, so when I called Monday, I told the man I would rather they mail me a check. He said he would have to talk to their accountant, in Baton Rouge and call me back. He never did. Daughter went and manager gave her the owner’s email. She emailed him and so did I. The only response she got was a copy of the email he sent his management. They blocked all our phone numbers and we never got any call backs.
