BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. These claims come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints and competitor challenges. BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

On 07/26/2021 BBB challenged the advertising claims of Fiery Crab due to a consumer providing BBB a pricing issue on the business' online ordering website. The business claims one price on the dine in menu and a different price for the online ordering menu with no disclosure on the extra charges/price difference. BBB challenged this claims based on BBB's Code of Advertising:

Advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request. All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided.

17. Extra Charges
Whenever an advertiser mentions a price in advertising, the existence of any unavoidable or extra charges must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed in immediate conjunction with the price. This would include, for example, charges for delivery, installation, assembly, excise tax and postage and handling

The business failed to respond to BBB either substantiate, modify or discontinue the claim.
