    Complaint Summary:BuddyID released my personal phone number to a convicted felonthe former owner of my rescue dogunder false pretenses. This individual subsequently obtained my home address, resulting in serious safety concerns and financial costs.Complaint Details:On August 19, 2025, BuddyID disclosed my phone number to a third party who falsely claimed to be affiliated with Animal Control. This person is a convicted felon, and at the time of their arrest, was found in possession of multiple firearms. The woman in the convicted couplenow released from prisonwas the previous owner of my rescue dog. She has stated in writing that she obtained my address from BuddyID.BuddyID failed to verify the identity or authority of the requester before releasing my information. As a result, this individual was able to obtain my name and home address, and sent a letter directly to my residence. This breach has caused emotional distress and forced me to upgrade my home security system, incurring significant expense.BuddyIDs actions contradict their stated privacy policy and demonstrate a failure to safeguard customer data.I am requesting:A formal apology and explanation from ***************** that no further disclosures will occur Compensation for the financial and emotional harm caused I would appreciate BBBs assistance in resolving this matter and holding BuddyID accountable for its actions.
