1 starThey lost the title to my vehicle, after never sending it, once I paid off my Auto Loan. Instead of fixing their mistake I was told to go to the DMV and file for a duplicate, and to pay for out of my own pocket.Review fromLottie M

1 starI got a loan with pelican credit union on O’Neal lane in Baton Rouge La on 6/4/25. First payment due tomorrow. But I had to go behind them and pay 2 of the creditors. Which I was told upon getting the loan if that happened to let them know. So I paid the creditors but they want waive my first payment nor let me pay the difference from what I’ve already paid. Instead pelican state credit union wants me to refinance a loan I haven’t even paid my first payment. I am so sorry I got this loan until I’m literally sick. They have no compassion whatsoever once you get a loan. But they’re so nice and full of shit b4 you sign that paperwork. Pelican state credit union on O’Neal lane in Baton Rouge sucks. I will never refer anyone to take out a loan with them ever.Review fromBethany M

1 starPelican State Credit Union has been the absolute worst. They will not refund the remaining $250 for them saying “i didn’t have insurance on my car at the time” when i infact have provided all the information they said they needed on multiple different occasions. I was told for 4 weeks “7to 10 business days you will receive your refund “ i waited each time, and never got the rest of my refund. This new CIP company they are working with clearly dose not know how to do their job. This isn’t the first issue i have had with pelican either. If they knew from the beginning i wasn’t going to get my refund they should’ve made that clean instead of dragging it out for so long. Ive went in Branch in person 2 times and spokes to someone 7 times with them all saying i would get my refund. Here i am today with no refund because someone doesn’t want to take accountability for a simple misunderstanding even when i have provided all the proof there is to provide.Pelican State Credit Union

1 starIn May 2006 we purchased a mobile home finance through Pelican State Federal credit Union. It was supposed to be delivered and set up on private land not owned by myself but by my parents, the Mobile Home was my name and my father-in-law‘s name which is **** ****** I made monthly payments religiously on my Mobile Home then all of a sudden and 2019 I was forced to move out of my trailer due to the fact that when the mobile home was delivered it was bound to my parents is property come and find out in the state of Louisiana once the axles are removed from the mobile home and a fence is built around the home. It becomes part of that property, therefore pelicans assets, my home And rightful state homestead was taken away which means the day that that was delivered in 2006 basically was not my home when it got delivered but belong to ****** **** ***** ****** and him and my mother filed for divorce which made my home turn into their community property moving on with that situation. I am being penalized all my credit bureau, stating that I was like 20 months and also a charge off with even with a letter stating from Pelican that I was no longer bound to that property and they made agreement with ****** ***** and associates, as well as Harold Jean Fried senior for the mount of $4000 Two months before they actually said it was a charge off I feel this is completely unconstitutional as well as completely against a consumer and a bank. Try and take advantage is certain fact, the bank is supposed to protect its assets in the financing in the you know, all of their shareholders, and Pelican did not do that at all my bureau it shows that it was like a brief, but the Mobile Home was never taken away and they never had right to the land so I would like to have that removed completely from my credit report due to the fact that it does not it’s not mine, because I’ll be still living in paying the bill. It belongs to my father, who is not on the titlePelican State Credit Union

1 starAfter a good five years of banking with Pelican, this is by far the biggest let down of inconsideration and negligence to me as your customer?? On February 23,2023 was the date of my tax refund. On that very same day I found that I gave my tax preparer the wrong account number which happened to be someone else’s valid account number. After catching my own mistake and calling Pelican the same exact day to report my mishap, I was assured by a bank member that my $9,381.00 was located and would be forwarded back to the IRS due to this error. Me being a member so long I trusted their word even texting the app after the phone call to let other representatives be aware of my situation as well. After weeks of calling back and forth and speaking with multiple reps, I was constantly being told to check with the IRS. After multiple calls to the IRS for now over a month, their rep told me that a forwarded check should’ve taken no more than a week to return to us, check with your back for the issue. I followed up with Pelican again and now frustrated a little, I finally receive a call on March 30, 2023 telling me that my check was not forwarded back to the IRS but deposited into someone else’s bank account and that the account holders withdrew all of the money out! Now with this being a large sum of money and people taking it any withdrawing it all would be subject to felony theft!! Not here. Pelican has taken no ownership or liability for my lost funds in this situation but only blamed my tax preparer for making a mistake! But for me to catch this mistake the very same day, THEY WERE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO CORRECT THIS ERROR BUT THEY NEGLECTED THEIR JOB DUTIES. Back to the felony theft that should’ve prompted Pelican to pursue charges against the account holder, i was told to go file charges on a unanimous person and we all know they can’t give out personal information for safety reasons. I’m still puzzled to why Pelican told me pursue charges. I’m just too hurtPelican State Credit Union

Pelican State Credit Union posts IRS tax refunds received
through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network using account numbers only.
The Credit Union is not obligated to ensure the IRS originates refunds be sent to
deposit accounts in the name of the recipient. Incorrect banking information
may be supplied to the IRS by the taxpayer on his/her signed tax return, which
authorizes the direct deposit. Therefore, the Credit Union is not liable for
IRS tax refunds that are sent through the ACH network to erroneous or
fraudulent accounts since the Credit Union solely relies on the account
information provided by the IRS. Although the Credit Union is not liable for
misdirected IRS tax refunds that are sent to wrong accounts because of IRS or
taxpayer errors, the Credit Union will return those funds to the IRS if the
funds are still available.Review fromTrenton F.

1 starPelican State Credit Union has good human customer service, but terrible electronic services such as online banking and their mobile banking apps. Along with that, their mailing processes are subpar. I’d been a loyal customer for more than a decade and continued to bank with Pelican even after moving out of state. This is when the weaknesses of their processes became more obvious and more costly.
What finally ended our banking relationship was Pelican allowing me to set up mobile banking to keep track of my accounts. I was able to set up alerts and other account options. Pelican then created a new pelican mobile app in the Apple App Store and deprecated the original without warning or notification. The deprecation meant the notifications that I’d set up no longer worked and the account quickly got over drafted as I normally do bank transfers to keep the account steady at $10k. I was alerted to the account being negative by my mortgage company as my house payment ACH failed. I contacted Pelican immediately and the true aggravations began. They contended that even though their service failures were certainly their fault, that I still owed them overdraft fees (even though I had overdraft protection). On principle I cannot pay this bank and although I have recommended them for years I’ll now be forced to warn people who took my advice to be wary of them.
They sent the account to collections and whenever I look at my previously perfect credit and the new stain of a failed business relationship marring it, I reflect on what once was a nice company.Pelican State Credit Union

Thank you for taking
the time to leave your feedback, Mr. Ford. When we decided to upgrade our old
app to a newer, easier to use application, we took several proactive steps to
ensure our members were updated each step of the way. Members with accurate contact
information in our system received notification by email, text message, social
media, and more in the months leading up to, the day of, and post-launch in
order to effectively prepare all members to get the latest and greatest app.
Further, we did place pop-up notifications and sent in-app messages in our
previous app leading up to the day of launch for the app upgrade. We have
looked into your account and see that you received emails from us about the app
update, but they were not opened.Trenton F.

Pelican's response about their notifications regarding deprecating and replacing their mobile banking app is simply incorrect. I imagine they had intentions for these in-app and text notifications going out to customers, but again, their communications processes have proven poor enough through my years of distanced interactions that I simply don't believe them anymore. I would suggest that any potential client do the same. Further, coming to a BBB to play defense without even a moment of accountability has made me decide to follow up and try to hold them to the claims that they've made here by requesting server logs and communication chains through legal means.
