      My daughter played basketball and plays Aau. These tournaments use companies that require parents to book hotels. They call them “pay to play” tournaments. If you do not stay at these companies, your child is ineligible to play in the tournament.
      I booked a hotel through this company because that was what I was told to do. It was for 2 nights and I booked in advance. The Tuesday before the event, I emailed this company to modify my reservation. Her first game is at 6pm on Saturday so there would be no reason to stay 2 nights in a hotel. ***** ********* replied the next day (Wednesday) at 2:57 pm saying there was a 2 night requirement and that even if I do not come the first night, I will be charged with a chance that I could lose the room (and be charged full price).
      I went on to Marriott’s website and modified my reservation for one night. I have a screen shot to prove that I did that. Later I checked with Marriott app and it still said 2 nights. Wednesday I sent an email asking to cancel altogether. At 4:13, 13 minutes after this business closing time, ***** sent me an email stating that since I requested after 6pm on Wednesday, I will be charged a penalty plus a nights fee.
      I have been in the process of trying to fix this reservation since Tuesday and now I am being told that I missed the deadline, after the business is closed for the day.
      Unprofessional and I will not do business with this company again!

      Per screenshot attached, the request for cancellation was sent at 11:12p on Feb 28th. The deadline for cancellation of this reservation was 6p on Feb 28th. This deadline was agreed upon by ** ********* when she made the reservation. It was also noted in her confirmation.

      Note that the hotel deadline is set by the hotel and not SiteSearch. In addition the two night minimum was set by the hotel. We are contracted by the hotel to honor those requirements in order to receive the discounted rate.

      This company has a cancellation policy that is essentially usury . They work with a company Bullpen sports who will cancel on teams after the date they put in their cancellation policy. Giving little recourse but to lose a large sum of money on housing. I am going to report them to the state they are incorporated with and I will be encouraging our teams to never book through them ever again. I will also be filing a complaint against Bullpen for forcing teams to do this knowing this sort of collusion exist. This company needs to be investigated, however, credit card companies have already told us that policy is unenforceable. However, they need to be investigated for usury.

      I cannot respond to a specific situation as I do not see a reservation made for Ms. *** in our system. However there is no collusion involved. If circumstances occur where a teams games are cancelled through no fault of their own and they are not able to play then we refund their deposit.  If there is a specific instance where a refund was not made we would be happy to address it.
