Currently at this school and tuition has gone up twice on top of not having a good curriculum, and being told in one semester that we wouldn’t have to pay for a program that’s required to pass that semester and then get to the semester and way in week 6 having to pay for the program and still have no access to it. They will set you up to fail.Review from A. A.

If I could leave negative stars I would. I decided to apply and enroll into the evening vocational nursing program at Galen. I did my FAFSA and accepted the financial aid award letter. I had my enrollment meeting with Sheila in admissions on (5/18/2021) and we went over the financial aid award letter and how much the program would cost, I let her know that I would need some time to think about completing the enrollment process. She told me that is ok and when I am ready to continue the admission process to let her know. She informed me that I would need $200, 100 for the registration fee and 100 for the back ground fee. She said after this is paid then I can continue with the rest of the enrollment. I said ok, I thought it over and paid the fee through the Galen student portal and sent her an email stating the fee has been paid and I was ready to go onto the next interview. I never got a response so I contacted the admissions office to let them know I had paid the $200 and that I needed to set up a second interview with Sheila. I let them know I needed to go over registration for classes, the payment plan, getting the uniform and signing any documents that needed to be signed. I was told there was no 2nd interview in the enrollment process and that the $200 I paid would secure my seat in the upcoming class, everything that needed to be signed was already signed. I was told to await further emails with instructions on what to do next and no further action was needed on my part. In the upcoming weeks I received emails to log into my student outlook account to send in my photo for the student badge, and to complete my finger printing background with identago. I set up my appointment for identago and got fingerprinted, which cost me close to $40.00. At this point, I have already invested $240.00 in this school. I sent countless emails to Sheila regarding what I still needed to get as a student, as I had not received information on uniforms or when I would be able to buy text books for the fall quarter; again no response from her. On June 21st, I went online to check my Galen student portal and all of a sudden my status is shows as ineligible for aid and also that I had not signed my enrollment form. Not a single person contacted me to let me know I was missing any items, I was told that everything was sent in and all I would do was start classes on the 6th of July. I contacted the department of education to see if Galen had received my master promissory note, I received a confirmation response on June 21st that the master promissory note had been signed by me and sent to the school. Even Galen confirmed it was there and all of a sudden said it was not. This does not make sense to me! All in all, I wasted over 6 months preparing for classes by getting the shots I needed, getting a physical and even changing my work schedule to accommodate the school schedule they allowed me to register for! I don't know how this place is allowed to even operate, their reviews on google are horrible and I chose to ignore them because I wanted to become a nurse. This is not right! I was able to access the book list for my start date and bought books, I had to send them all back and I lost out on an extra $89 due to two books being on my e-reader, plus the desk I bought for $120. Don't spend your money or your time going here, it's like they pick and choose who they want to be successful.Galen College of Nursing Response

What does moving to a new system have to do with communicating with prospective students? I called the office of admissions way before being unenrolled by Galen, if there was any conflicting information that should have been addressed it should have been right when I called about my enrollment. Changing systems is not an excuse when a prospective student is sending email after email and neglecting to get a response from your admissions representative. Go look on Google reviews and see the horrible reviews from prospective students, this isn't the first time Galen in San Antonio has done this! Certainly it won't be the last. I don't know how this business is allowed to operate, you take people's money and then what? Just leave them? Have them enroll again and take an additional 200. I'm surprised there is no class action lawsuit, there seems to be a pattern of Galen doing this to prospective students.Review from Taylor L

Does anyone work for this school at all? No one answers calls or emails and all sent are un-responded to. There is a reason why this institution does not display their google reviews. I'm sure they are awful. They used to! I have always heard awful things about this school, but I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and apply anyway. My admissions "advisor" is a Janet Dakin. I applied to Galen back in January, spoke with her once since then, and I have not heard anything from Galen since. I have even emailed a different advisor with no response! I have sent multiple emails and called multiple times since then, and nothing! For a profession that is so "high" in demand, most schools, this one especially seem to care less that there are students wanting to make a difference and it is places like these with awful communication that make it impossible for our futures to happen. I will no longer be considering Galen as an option for nursing school. Please listen to the other reviews and look elsewhere. Extremely unprofessional.Galen College of Nursing Response
