Buyer Beware! Since moving to Saint Matthews, Kentucky three-years ago, I've had Meineke do work to the three vehicles my daughter and I own, exclusively. I'd spent a little over $3K in repairs in the first two-years and had become a regular customer. One day I had to have my car towed to Meineke in Saint Matthews KY. The brake caliper on the left front (driver side) had locked up on the highway and overheated to a point that it melted the plastic center cap of the aluminum alloy wheel. I explained to the manager and mechanic that I'd recently purchased the [one owner] 1998 Ford Taurus with 62K-miles and it needed a brake job, as evidenced by the brake inspection. Not to mention the fact that I had to have it towed there. When I returned to pick up the Taurus, I was handed a whopping the $1,149.00 bill for labor, four-sets of brake pads and one (1) caliper. The bill was excessive and I failed notice that they neglected to replace the four brake hoses on the calipers, which is standard safety replacement on old brake hoses and a Major Safety Issue. In fact, they did not replace the over-heated brake caliper that had gotten so hot that I burned my hand when touched the wheel. I also explained that at the outset. This was another safety issue, yet Meineke was obviously cutting corners. Afterwards, while driving my Taurus several times, the brakes felt like they weren't releasing. Still under warranty, I took the Taurus back to Meineke. The manager listened in a telegraphingly detached and uncaring expression, got on the desk computer and printed out a $500.00 bill to replace four brake hoses! Incredible!!! In the end I had to order four brake hoses online at a cost of approximately $78.00 and installed them myself. As Ive read other Meineke customer reviews, it bacame very clear that Meineke's primary interest is your wallet. Your motor vehicle and safety comes second. My family and I will never do business with Meineke ever again.
