1 starThis is a money hungry company with very predatory practices, DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. I’ve rented over a thousand dollars of legal textbooks from here and shame on me for not looking into the reviews before that.
I received a USED book that was an older edition that had highlights, page damage and notes all in the margins. None of this bothered me at all because it was an older edition anyways. I returned the book in the original condition that it was received and two months later they’re claiming the book is damaged and that it was MY responsibility to tell them of their used condition when I first ordered the book. They are charging hundreds of dollars for the cost of a USED and OLD book, and when reaching out to get it resolved, you can clearly tell this is a tactic they use all the time.
I’m lucky that I had to get a new card prior to finding this out, because they surely would have been trying to charge me. Stay away from this company.Review fromKristin g

2 starsI was charged 198$ for a book I was renting, I started a return because the customer service person I spoke to said I could return it for a 75% refund. This was on 5/23, I sent back the book on 5/25. They said once they received it, it would be processed and my refund would be sent to the account that they charged me from. I checked in on May 30th and they said that my book showed it would be arriving in returns by 6/2. On 6/3 I checked in again (via email) and the customer service person said they had received it on 6/2 and it was being processed. It could take up to 10 days for my refund. I
checked in again 6/25 and he said that my book has been processed and $145 dollars is scheduled to be sent to my bank tomorrow. Please allow 4-6 days for the bank to clear the funds. So AGAIN, I checked in on 6/30 and he said that the book is still being processed. They may have received it in a condition that they weren't expecting so it got sent to "exceptions". This book was in perfect condition when I sent it back. I went to the website and started a chat with another customer service person and he said we received your book on 6/2 and he would inquire why I haven't received my refund yet. This whole thing has been frustrating and annoying and I never leave bad reviews, but I don't want anyone else to have to deal with this. I am a student and a single mom. $145 dollars is
Not "nothing" to me.Review fromStacy T

1 starI wish i had read other reviews before ordering from this company. I had rented two books for the spring semester. I returned both books in the same package, other than being read were in excellent condition. I was contacted to make me aware one book was damaged. I reached out on 6/5 for some answers regarding the other book and the packaging when they were received being they were shipped together. I was advised that the other book was good and there was no damage to the package. I questioned how one book could be damaged and not the other. Their answer was I damaged the book prior to sending it back. while I can understand that thought process, there was no damage to the book when it left my hands. I questioned whether it was damaged in the warehouse after it was received. I was advised twice it would go to a supervisor, it normally takes 1-2 business days to receive a response. I have heard nothing. I reached out on 6/5 & 6/17. There is no phone number to call, you can't talk to a human being and there is a complete disregard for my inquiry. I have now been charged $270 for a book worth $184 and I don't even have the book. To say I am dissatisfied is an understatement. I would strongly discourage anyone from using this company.Review fromBronson S

1 starDo not rent a textbook from this website. The books delivered to me were slightly damaged (i.e. folds in pages, slight water damage, markings, etc.). At the end of my rental, I submitted my books in the same quality I received them. I am now being charged for the full price of the book ON TOP of the rental price because the damage the book had before I ever received it. Save the hassle and money and pay for a new book or for a used one you can keep.Review fromCarly M

1 starDO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I rented a textbook from there because it seemed like a good idea as after the course I had no need for it. However after returning the book I was informed that due to damage I needed to replace the entire thing however I received no means of doing that. I was then charged full book price despite already paying a third of the cost in rental fees and shipping. Additionally they have no phone lines so customer service is less than ideal. All this experience was a waster of money and a headacheReview fromSteven I

My wife ordered a book from ecampus and we cannot get our money back as guaranteed on the website. When you ask the seller for a refund, as directed by the website, the seller says they sell under "Marketplace" in the app so they do not have to honor the guarantee. When you try to call customer service and automated operator says that there's no agents to take the call and hangs up. I'm definitely filing a complaint as well as this review.eCampus.com

Good afternoon,
All Marketplace sales are final unless there is an issue with the book itself, such are the incorrect item was sent to you, or the item is damaged. You can connect with a customer support agent by visiting our help desk at https://www.ecampus.com/help/help-desk. Thank you. -eCampusReview fromSarah L

1 starThis store was a complete scam.
I rented a book last semester sent it back in the exact condition. I received it in because I didn’t even use it for my coursework. I did a video of the front of the book and the pages and shipped it on its way and didn’t think anything more of it.
That was until January when I suddenly get an alert that I have over $100 being pulled out of my bank account. I furiously contact the store to find out that they had decided that I had damaged the book. Proceeding to send me a photo of the book completely torn in the back.
They refused to refund me the money because I did not have any images of the back to provide. I worked incredibly hard to try to resolve the issue, but they proceeded to charge me for the damage. They caused the book and blame it on me.
Finally on the 22nd, which I was told I had until to request for them to return the book to me since they have forced me to purchase it. I emailed requesting that it be sent. They proceeded to recycle my book anyways and send me an email a week later, stating that I had until the end of business day to request the book, even though that was never specified to me In both of the phone calls, I made to the company or in the emails I was sent.
I am only 26 credits into a masters degree. You would think that they want the business, but I will never get a book from this company again and I deeply recommend people to take the warnings seriously.
Amazon prime and Chegg are completely superior service.
And I guarantee I’m gonna get some comment back from the company with some excuse as to why in all three times I’ve contacted them why I was misinformed about the request times to get my book returned. But there are simply no excuse for it.Review fromCathi W

1 starScam Alert!! I rented a book for my granddaughter, and returned them at the end of the semester in the exact condition in which they were received (they were hardly used). I received a text from ECampus after they received the book back saying that the books are damage and written in and it was new I show used on the site and it had writing in a foreign language . ECampus then processed an unauthorized payment on my credit card. They also have kept my credit card on file unauthorized as I would never agree to keep a credit card on file with any company. The text also says if I want the books back that I have to pay $12 for shipping. So I was charged the original rental fee, the original shipping charge and charged full price for the books, and now they are keeping the books. I am filing a complaint with my credit card company and will try to avoid at all cost using this company for my granddaughter’s books in the future.Review fromJL W

1 starZero Stars. Scam Alert. Don’t do it. Definitely too good to be true. I was told the book I ordered, the book that was supposed to arrive yesterday per when I ordered online, the book that has not been shipped or issued to ship, cannot be canceled and a refund given. The book is clearly not on its way to me anytime soon, and the class is in full swing. I bought the book elsewhere. The website says pending “trusted supplier”, but the email from Customer Service email says “publisher”. Word consistency, people. Either way, the email also states I will be charged a 15% restocking fee and return shipping costs when I return the book (earlier than expected)..that I, hopefully, one day receive..that I no longer want from these people..that hasn’t even been shipped to me. Per the other complaints, I’ll just have to wait patiently to be told I returned a damaged book I never used and that I have to pay for it. Save yourself the hassle and headaches, rent elsewhere.Review fromLeah D

I placed an order with this company on Monday 9-9-24 for a college book for my son. I paid $21.99 extra for fast shipping and it said I would receive an email as soon as it ships. I have tried calling and emailing Ecampus and they have not bothered to contact me at all. I need this book by Monday. Now I am very concerned after reading all the bad reviews on the BBB. They owe me $141.70.eCampus.com
