  Second time purchasing a horse from H and R Farms. The first was back in 2022 and I bought a beautiful Andalusian/Quarter Horse mare who is wonderful! I just bought a beautiful Friesian Sport Horse mare from them. In all cases, Erin was helpful and made the transaction easy. The shipping (from a nearby transportation company) was reasonable and easy as well. My new mare came with neg. Coggins, a health check, and a guarantee of the registration coming from Friesian Sport Horse. Before the first horse, I had never bought sight-unseen, but these horses are everything they are represented to be -- and then some. I am very happy with both horses and love them both.   Horse expert writing - I just bought a horse from HandR farms - They have a wonderful operation. They are as transparent a horse seller as they come. They reveal as much info as they have and when you make an appointment to see the horses, they are not pushy and are as helpful as they come. They are busy people though so if you want to buy a horse, educate yourself or come with someone who knows horses. You will have the best experience if you are an educated buyer, pay cash and are decisive. They have a NO QUESTIONS asked guarantee that if you buy a horse and don't like it, they will exchange - they want you to be happy. They will help you arrange transport for your horse (which we used and it was reasonable). Their pricing is fair and competitive. I am beyond delighted with them. The owner Erin is direct and to the point - one of the barn managers (Dee) was our onsight seller and he was a knowledge, honest cowboy. I have NO RESERVATIONS recommending this horse seller. We drove 7 hours from Chicago to Kentucky to see and ride 9 horses - stayed locally at a hotel because the farm is in the foothills of Kentucky. It is not close to airports so it is a journey to get there. However if you are buying a horse you will have for 20 years, it is worth the effort.

  Buyer Beware – Our Experience with H&R Horses
  We recently purchased a horse from Erin based on her assurance that the animal was healthy. When we arrived to pick the horse up, we immediately noticed a snotty nose. Her husband assured us it was just due to recent weather changes, and no cough was present at the time.
  After getting the horse home, it became clear something was wrong. He developed a persistent, wet cough and a high fever of 103.5. Our vet confirmed he was sick and prescribed antibiotics. We've had to quarantine him from our other horses, disinfect our barn and trailer, and cancel a horse camping trip — all while hoping our other animals don’t fall ill.
  We incurred over $550 in direct losses (vet bill, fuel, canceled plans) and gave Erin multiple chances to resolve the issue. She has since gone silent, claiming she is out of the country, and has not arranged for a return or refund — despite previously offering to take the horse back.
  We are now pursuing legal action and feel it’s important to share our experience so others don’t go through the same. We urge anyone considering doing business with H&R Horses to proceed with extreme caution.

  Erin was extremely rude to me. I was trying to set up an appointment to come try her horses. I explained that I was extremely sick and asked for her patience. She kept interrupting me. I told that because I was sick, I was sending my adult daughter in my place and trusted her completely. I was trying to ask about payment information and she interrupted me again. I asked her to pause and let me finish, please. Then she said that she didn't like the way I was talking to her and HUNG UP ON ME! I was not rude, I never raised my voice, I was completely polite. Yes, I was frustrated with the constant interruptions, but I did not lose my temper. There are several other reviews with similar descriptions of rudeness. Be warned, trying to do business with this woman is undesirable at best.

  This woman called me and wanted to come and see a horse. I told her that payment had to be received in full in order for a horse to be purchased and taken off the market. She wanted to do a deposit, I told her we do not do that as I had other customers coming on the same day to see this horse. She then proceeded to tell me to stop talking in a VERY RUDE MANNER as I was trying to explain to her that we sell lots of horses here on a daily basis. I also had to repeat everything I said three times as she was not comprehending or understanding anything I was telling her. She was a customer I am glad to not have as she would have been too difficult to deal with. She wanted to tell me how to run my business and how I was going to accept payment. I do not have the time to deal with customers that do not understand a simple policy. If you want the horse it must be paid for in full or we have other customers to buy them. I wish her the best of luck on her hunt for a horse.

  I my first horse from Erin because of her reputation and willingness to provide a 90 day no questions asked guarantee! I took the my new horse home and for some reason we just didn't work well together. I called Erin and she immediately told me to bring him back and had another horse that she was certain would be better suited for me. The first time I saw Darth Vader I new he was the one. I rode him and instantly felt extremely comfortable. He has been the perfect horse. Thank you Erin for helping me get the perfect horse.

  I have spent a total of 2.5 minutes speaking with Erin on the phone. My first conversation was rushed (51 seconds). It entailed her calling me back a day later after I left her a voicemail (which is fine, I get that, no problem) but she was in such a hurry to get off the phone. She told me the horse I was looking at had interested buyers, so to call her before I come out. It's a 9 hour drive for us to come pick up a horse from her, and I was going to spend 5 figures. It only makes sense to want to talk to a seller for more than a minute on the phone. So I called her later the same day, left a voicemail, she called back in timely manner. I asked her if I could have my trainer call her with some questions. She immediately bit my head off, and said she "doesn't have time for 50 questions and DRAMA, because she moves horses quickly. Every thing she knows about the horse is listed in their ads". I completely understand being a business where you move quickly, as I have been in there. But at the end of the day people will have questions about a horse they are buying. If you are going to run a business and you're that busy --- hire someone to help deal with the people if you, yourself, have no patience, are too busy, and/or lack people skills. People do not deserve to have their heads bit off for asking one simple question. It would be one thing if I called her multiple times. This was my second phone conversation with her and it was less than 2 minutes long. If you are looking to spend your money on a horse with minimal to no questions answered about the horse, than this is the place for you. Erin was completely unprofessional and I am very disappointed in my experience. I would not recommend this business. Sounds like she has so many horses she's trying to move, she has lost sight of how to treat people and run a business properly.

  I spoke to this lady more than once on the phone, told her she was more than welcome to come see the horse and schedule an appointment. I answered all of her questions that were already stated in the description and shown in the video. She wanted to come out to see him and I let her know we sell horses every day here so she would need to call first since she would be driving a long ways to make sure we still had the horse available. After several phone calls answering her questions, she then wanted her trainer to call to ask questions. We have full in depth descriptions and 7 to 10 minute video on the website with 15 to 20 pictures per horse. After answering all of her questions and after she had called several times and had not scheduled any appointment to see the horse, I did not feel the need to continue to answer her repetitive questions that were already all answered in full in the ad. I do not feel this customer would have been a good fit to buy from our business as we move horses here quickly and the horse would not have been available by the time she made a decision or had several different parties call to ask the same questions over and over.

  My recent purchase of a horse from H and R Farms has been a remarkably positive experience, from start to finish. The photos and video were excellent in content and quality, showing me plenty of everything I like to know about a horse I'm considering buying for myself. The write-up by Erin was the same - not just a bunch of gushy adjectives, but all useful information about what to expect from the mare in temperament, physical ability and experience. The mare in question has been everything I expected from all of the above, plus my conversation with Erin. I would definitely recommend H and R Farms.
  I was also impressed by James M** at Shadow Ridge Transport, which Erin recommended to ship the mare from KY to NC. Erin stated that he had done all her shipping for the last 3 years. He quickly set up the shipment, and he and his driver did everything as promised and on time, and used excellent equipment.
  All in all, the entire experience was amazingly good, to a long-time horse person!

  We had picked out 4 horses that we wanted to see. Upon our arrival all 4 had been saddled and were ready for us. Dee was excellent to work with and he spent lots of time with us on all the horses. He rode them first and then allowed us to ride them. We settled on First Down Royal, a beautiful 4 year old paint QH. We were allowed to put our English saddle on Royal and ride him. Additionally we walked him around and even lunged him. Royal is a sweetheart and smart horse and very healthy. We spent close to 1 1/2 hours with Royal before we decided he was the right one. No sales pressure put on us and from start until we loaded Royal for home. Everyone at H and R was very helpful and accommodating to our selection. Robbie/Brian B.

  I have been looking for the right horse for over a year. I was watching several sites, but was impressed with the effort that Erin from HandRhorses.com put into the videos of the horses they offered for sale. She presented them honestly in different situations, and at all gaits. Granted, she is a good rider who helps the horses put their best hoof forward. So, anyone looking should also be honest in their assessment of their own riding abilities. I bought a wonderful Friesian, Morgan cross mare that has a great temperament, and is a lovely mover. I am a happy customer.
