RBS was hired to remove and install a new sump pump system in a home on November 28. *** had said that he was a master plumber and had been doing it for years. He said that he could have the project done in about an hour since it was a total rip out and replace. On the day of the job, he showed up 45 minutes late. He and his assistant looked to be about done, and I had somewhere to be so I paid him the agreed upon sum of $1100, with a tip for his willingness to take the job short notice and said I'd be back in an hour to check out the finished product. I returned and got a call that the job had not been completed, there was an issue with the primary pump and he needed to come back the next day to finish it up. The next day he spent 2 hours with it and still couldn't get it to work correctly and would need to come back on day 3. On day 3, he was not there, but some of his employees were there and they resolved that the pump itself was broken and would need replaced, they didn't have replacement parts with them. *** admitted that it had sucked up some gravel and that it was his fault it wasn't working. On day 4, again, *** was not present and his crew attempted to replace the primary pump with an inferior pump that wasn't a like for like replacement. On the surface the job looked complete, but it was very sloppy. After his crew left, piping disconnected and sprayed water in the basement. His employees again returned and worked until they said the job was done. Something was clearly not working correctly as water in the pit was not being removed correctly, the backup pump was working near constantly as well. I called *** and sent multiple videos of the backup pump running regularly, and the primary pump not functioning. I was told that 'his people said it was working when they left' and then he stopped responding to me. He blocked my number and refused my text messages. I was forced to call another contractor to completely redo the entire job at a cost of $3200.Business Response

The owner of this complaint had previous plumbers supposedly install incorrect piping and illegal piping from the sump pump into his sewage stack. He has numerous 90 bends as well as a 25 ft run directed going up from the sump pump. No sump pump can take on that PSI and more importantly he didn’t want to fix the problem correctly and to code which is for discharge to be going outside the house. Inspection will be initiated as well as real estate and new home owners. We will not complete the job unless it’s ethical. He has left this mess for the new home owners due to lack of ethics and him saying he didn’t care to just get the job completed. In order to properly have this done it takes digging on the outside of house and going through foundation with the proper pipes. Once again he was asking us to do something that was not code or ethical to the unfortunate new home home owners. Proper cost the new homeowners will be stuck with if this goes not inspected would be around 15,000. That’s all we got.

The plumbing company that’s will not guarantee the work is very smart not to! This owner ran his own plumbing and it’s a disaster. He offered me a bottle of bourbon not to say anything and put bandaids on it.
I fired 3 of my guys who went back after I told them not tooooo. We will not do anything that is not code from bribery!
As stated we will reach out to the real estate agent and new home owners as well contact the plumbing company as unfortunately they send salesman out instead of actual plumbers.
This is noted as well that the BBB has the facts if this proceeds and we will make sure it gets into the proper hands of everyone involved.

For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.Could this guy lie any more? This business is 100% dishonest and willfully ignores facts. He acts like he is the arbiter of truth here, but in fact, he's done nothing by lie and con while stealing $1100 for work that was not completed. Instead he threatens his clients and projects his own dishonesty onto his clients. He has no clue at all as to the circumstances, other than out of a half dozen contractors over the years, that his is the only one who couldn't do the job. What a master. There's a long list of explaining this situation to the BBB, RBS is a thief and con man. He's got absolutely no credibility.

Hired Robert E***** S******* and RBS Mechanical to install a bathtub. Paid $1987.50 on 9/30/23. Job was not finished, and horrible work was done. Paid new plumber to fix damage and had to purchase all new hardware due to Robert E***** S******* ruining and disposing of parts. Dear BBB,
**** is accusing us of not completing a job and taking his money? The price for a bathroom tub remodel is around $3,800-5,000. we charged ($3,300) in which only 1,750 Ish has been paid. The work part definitely gets more interesting. We will start off with 3 employees for 3 days 8 hours a day between 25-28 dollars an hour, we can start by adding that up. **** gave us a bunch of misinformation but of course we decided to still try to help him out. First, we Demo'd out half a bathroom (Tub and plastic walls) **** told me we would be replacing with something as the same thing or near it. That was not the case at all. **** bought a 700# bathtub and knew he had 36-inch doors. **** also signed off and said don't worry about the floors as they are not tile but basically stickers that 2 of them got messed up because we had 4 grown big men trying to turn every which way just to get the tub in his small bathroom! He also states about the dust welp he signed off on that as well and said i understand there was going to be dust. That was ok at the time even though we had the window open and the shop vac throwing out dust as we were getting the old bath and shower out which was nearly impossible to contain in the size of bathroom.
At this point he's gone way over the price 100%. Before we move on **** claims a plumber came in and finished the job. I would like to see the receipt, plumbers name and telephone number and also see if those charges were just for an install after we Demo'd the whole bathroom and added the new copper lines and fittings. Should be interesting to see. Anyways **** knew we only had about 25 minutes' worth of work left and after we also didn't charge for removal and disposal of his old tub which yes cost us money as well to dump! He gives me a check for half the job so yes, I deposited in the bank. **** then calls later that evening and says he is unhappy with the work performed so far .... basically, the whole job because his wife was sick from the dust, we cut from removing the bathroom.
**** is also dating and seeing another fraudulent character named ***** on here in which the two of them have moved 23 times this and that. **** has multiple papers coming his way from the court and that's where I'll keep this at but the safety of my family and business will not be compromised. **** and ***** who has the other rating on here as an F both have created multiple fake **** reviews, photos and fake emails. BBB should have been better in informing he business owner of a rating as ***** comment would not stand. **** has to constantly and has been taking down both **** and ***** fake comments and pictures. As of today 10/20/23, hopefully **** will continue to ban these two fraudulent. characters!!! Soon I will collect the rest form *** **** through the court system.
I do have to add Karma to this as **** before telling me when basically his bathroom was done that, he no longer needed our services. Told me and laughed said he stopped check payment for only half what he owed. I was angry but man I at least got paid that poor amount to pay my employee's for breaking their backs. As for **** ****, Independence and certain other individuals know your games of false emails and fake text.

RBS admitted they did not complete the job. I have text messages from Robert S*******. I have lots of videos and pictures of everything that is wrong with the constr5uction. I have paid a new plumber almost $800 dollars to fix the drain w/ leak that RBS installed incorrectly. You can see the bathroom/shower is still unserviceable. Since you have contacted the owner, I am now receiving threatening texts from him.Business Response

I have contacted the police for threats that Robert Edward S******* has made. They told me that S******* accused me of saying mean things about him on **** and he accused me of egging his car. The police report states that I am not a suspect. I have names of people that have used Robrt S******* for his services and are bot satisfied. The threats from S******* usually stop the honest people from posting their negative reviews,
The police referred me to the ****** County Attorney's office, and I have been assigned an assistant county attorney for the criminal charges being filed against Robert Edward S*******. The threats and intimidation are in the form of text messages. I can provide these texts if needed. The ****** County Attorney's office can verify this.

I met and learned of Rob S******** handyman service while working in Kroger liquor store. I (naively) trusted him and gave him the opportunity to look at what i needed repaired at my house. He repeatedly told me he'd take care me, he was confident he could do the repairs for a fair price and we set a start date. His 2-man crew were not professional, no uniform shirts, no booties on their shoes, and they reeked like ashtrays. Their first attempt at work was shoddy at best. Rob sent them out the next morning to do better. That didn't happen.
It was still sub par. I told him I was unhappy and he said he'd come out Thursday to do the work himself but didn't commit to a time. I then asked for itemized invoice, cash back on work not done (I was absent when his crew left the first day, and left him 700.00 cash on the table) and when to expect him. No reply. I called him, left a vm. Texted again, he finally replied but still no time commitment. Texted and called Wednesday. No answer, no reply. I reach out again and he says he's been in the hospital since the night before possibly needing spleen surgery that night. HOWEVER, less than 2 hours later, he walks into the liquor store OBVIOUSLY not ill with spleen complications. BUSTED! I was shocked. We agreed that he would bring me the money he owed me to my house the following morning around 10am. No call, no show. So I am now compelled to share this in hopes of preventing future victims. When called out on his behavior he attacked back, offering no apology, no remorse, threatening defamation of character. I'm simply just sharing the truth. I got swindled, I want my money back, and I want him held accountable.
