I do not recommend him for building decks. Initially he was easy to work with, then when we wanted things fixed (that were clearly by him choosing bowed boards and building on a bad base) he was hard to get ahold of and even harder to work with. He chose warped boards instead of straight boards. He built directly on the initial frame without replacing rotten boards. We were fine with building on the older frame if the boards were good but they clearly weren't near the house. We had to call him out after he was done because the boards were popping up when we walked on them and he just came back out and screwed down more screws, but didn't fix the bowing we saw within weeks. When asked about the bowing of the boards, he advised to place something heavy on it and it should help (it didn't). Every bench on our deck has bowed boards and many of the boards on the floor itself are too. We told him the problem less than 6 months after completion of the boards not being straight after the winter (as we wanted to stain the deck which he said to wait a year and we wanted to catch it before the year). The wood was starting to split and is now worse. We weren't able to stain the deck because the deck boards are lifting and splitting and bowed. the skirt around the deck is coming off of the deck. There is a step going up one side of the deck is not straight and has gaps between and is just an eye sore. We are now going to have to pay someone else to completely redo the deck . My husband tried multiple times to even get him to come out. He came out last spring and told us he'd do the labor for free but we were responsible for replacing all of the wood even though he knew it was like that within months of him building it and we had concerns with the bowing sooner than that. We do not have that kind of money especially after it should have been done right to begin with. If he had done it right in the first place we wouldn't have to. DO NOT USE **** *****!!!
