On December 7th, 2021 I applied for the early promotion Jackson Hewitt had to offer. I came in with my last pay stubs and for the first time in almost 10+ years sat down with someone new because my usual person (that I had an appointment with mind you) was busy with a customer and I didn’t have time to sit around and wait I was already late to work at this point. We went through the whole thing and when the preparer was done she printed out paperwork and handed it to me. Months go by and I periodically check the “where’s my refund” status and didn’t see a refund date like I would usually see. After waiting the 6 weeks after filing date surpasses I call the IRS. Phone call after phone call I got no where. I get a tax advocate who finally locates my taxes and tells me it’s in a department within the IRS and transfers me to it. The IRS worker finally tells me my taxes were filed with a W2 from a company I previously worked for and for the previous year. I explained to them I go through a third party and the mistake wasn’t mine and how can I rectify it. They tell me the necessary steps to take and I proceed to do so. This is in July of 2022! I filed in January of 2022! I contact Jackson Hewitt and bring the summer months they have limited offices opened as well as times they are open! I finally get in touch with Sherry at the Russellville rd location and she prepares my amended return and explains to me how the previous preparer could have made the error. I am beyond frustrated at this point because I am a single mother and I needed the money I worked all year for! Then the IRS said it takes 16 weeks to receive it and it has been over 20 weeks and still no return! I contact Jackson Hewitt via chat through their web portal and **** ** reassures me I am able to apply for the new 2022 early filing promotions they have as well as a 2022 return even if I have not received my amended 2021 return yet. I take a day off from work to see because again I am in need of money to support my family and it’s the holidays! I get down to the Gordon Avenue office all to be told that I am unable to because Jackson Hewitt has a stop in my account for nonpayment! So they are punishing me for their mistake! This whole situation has caused my family and I major financial hardships. All my documents I have online in myjh account have no preparers signature so I don’t have the full name of the person who made this error and or none of my documents will load! They also expect me to pay $500+ dollars and loan repayments ($1000 early + $3500) after because of their error I am nearly in the hole 3 times as much!
