Been a customer for nearly 17 years (since Feb 2008). This week (Nov 2024) I received a letter demanding $600 “security deposit” due to the last couple of bills being paid after the last day of the month — even though they already add on an extra 10% charge to any bill not paid by the last day of the month. This last time they shut power off which means the additional fee of 10% of bill plus $50 reconnect. OBVIOUSLY if someone can’t pay their electricity bill in winter, that means they are having financial struggles!! So it’s like pouring salt in an open wound to charge so many fees THEN send a letter saying you have to pay another $600 on top of your bills, within the next 4 weeks, “due to your unsatisfactory credit rating with DSO”…. Middle of winter, during the holidays, after being a customer for so long, and knowing they have a monopoly and customers obviously have no OPTIONS of other providers. What an insane “poverty tax” and middle finger this is…!!!!

This company is a monopoly where I live and they charge extra fees in comparison to other electric companies in my city! I’ve desperately tried to find new service, however they are the only ones for my neighborhood!
They charge a “availability fee” off $33 dollars a month! I asked them what this means and they said it’s to maintain the meters. I’ve lived all over and I’ve never had a $33 fee to maintain METERS! It’s just myself living here and my bill was $195!! That’s criminal! I’ve never paid over 100 any other place I’ve lived, given the fact that I’m at work for most of the day!
This needs to change, and I’m looking into resources to file a complaint and get a petition going! You can’t just charge random fees and expect people to be content with it!
I am so upset with this company, it’s disgusting and whoever is in charge of these prices should feel ashamed!

If there is a way to leave a negative review - this is it.
If you read the google reviews - you can see that i am not alone.
They ask you for your ssn and if you don’t give it to them, they simply hang up the phone. I tried to speak to a manager and the customer service person tallie tells me there isn’t one working but transfers me to a voicemail of another person. Awful customer service.
