We did do a restoration on ******s 78 GMC. Customer originally asked us to install engine and transmission in his 78 GMC. When vehicle arrived from body shop (I don't have any info on the body shop)  in June of 2023 vehicle already had damages and a lot of spots that had not been repaired by the body shop at this time the customer did not seem the most concerned, I provided him photos and discussed on the phone. The vehicle also arrived as just a shell of a truck and wheels, No interior at all (carpet, seats, dash). No brakes, No glass in any window. That is when we found out we are doing a full restoration. 5k of the 26k is for labor. The rest is for engine, transmission, brakes, glass, all interior components including everything previously mentioned to be missing. A full restoration of this nature is a minimum of 100 labor hours, not the 35 hours charged. We are a Vehicle repair and maintenance facility. We are capable of doing this restoration when informed properly, and have completed with other customers. *****, provided us with a parts list from LMC and told us to pick it up and add it to his tab he hand selected most of the parts that went into this vehicle. The vehicle arrived with no wiring so everything down to lights had to be wired in. Exterior trim and lighting and all associated parts were installed to make the vehicle road worthy, they were currently installed when the vehicle left. Once vehicle was complete we made Multiple test drives to confirm road worthiness. After we attempted to inform *****, the Truck was ready we did not hear from him for months he would not answer or return phone calls. Once ***** finally got ahold of us he said he was flying out to pick it up himself, he originally stated he was paying in cash and at that point we were excited for him to see the vehicle completed. Another month went by and ***** got ahold of us again and he asked how we would like to be paid? We informed him that we would like a cashiers check, he lives in Texas so, to protect our business we would like a cashiers check no payment disputes could be claimed. He was very resistant and hostile to that response and kept assuring us he has the money in the account. Even trying to force my sales manager to comply with his request and harassing him with multiple calls outside of business hours and on weekends on his personal cell. I never doubted ***** did not have the funds I just wanted to make sure we were protected.  Customer still sent a personal check after that point. I then told him I would compromise and accept that payment but not release his vehicle until the check cleared through **** ** *******. Again I was met with much resistance and was told I needed to release the vehicle immediately. I refused until the check cleared, once cleared we called and informed ***** the truck is ready to go. He called his own private courier who photographed and transported vehicle. I do not know where the vehicle was transported to, Texas, Colorado, etc. *****, then reached out and accused us of damaging the truck. We informed him that these damage issues were attempted to be communicated when we received the truck, but ***** seem unconcerned at that time, now we are being blamed. When the courier picked up the vehicle it was road worthy, and Operating as intended, the courier drove the truck into the trailer. ***** continued to now call daily and demand that we compensate him for the damages and continued with accusations. We refused to comply, ***** then himself was the one to state he is getting a Lawyer. At that point with the accusations and the threat of a lawyer, we agreed and stated any further discussions should be held through the lawyers. We have not heard from ***** since that day. On 10/17/24 I received a phone call from a BBB employee checking and updating my email. I then received the email that brought us here today. At this time we will not be issuing a refund we have gone above and beyond to accommodate ***** and his demands.

I am having issues with the videos uploading but can send . First you overcharged me 5k. I put 10k down when finished you requested 21k plus to pay for the work your bill shows I owed a total of 26k but I paid over 31k also the parts you charged labor on where finished be installed so I will have to pay another person to finish also the parts picked up from the parts supplier was not itemized so I can find out what parts you charged me for as far as the leaks and poor workmanship a mechanic has a report of the problems

      Business Response

      Date: 11/08/2024

Hello, again I have not over charged Mr. ****. As I stated in the last response the repair is drastically under bid at 25 hours. This work that got thrust into our shop, starts labor out at 100 hours and WILL go up. 25 hours sounds like a deal, especially seeing this vehicle had nothing, not one wire, we had to build from a frame and body. Again we are not a body shop, we are not a restoration shop, we are a small vehicle maintenance and repair facility. An actual body or restoration shop would of charged far more than I did. I have a list of parts that were installed, on Mr. ****'s truck, on his bill that has been sent to him multiple times. Mr. **** is the party that picked these parts and had Gooddeal pay for them. We only received and order number and Mr. **** had us pick them up and pay because Mr. **** didn't want to pay shipping. Again extra labor at no cost to, Mr. ****. Mr. ****, keeps saying mechanic work was sub par however in the state the vehicle left it was able to be a daily driver, and was driven onto transport. With out my inspection I can not accept or deny any faulty work. For the over charging, This is not the case. The 5k of the 10k down got applied to a past due balance that Mr. **** had acquired from his business, *** *******, that he sold and never settled up before leaving the state entirely. The 21k at end of repair is what was exactly what was need to complete payment. 21K plus 5k down is the 26k total on this vehicles bill. The other 5K was a balance that would of never been paid if Mr. **** did not bring this truck in. I know it would not of been paid because Mr. **** has block all phones from the business, partners personals cells, failed to respond even of ********. The only means of contact Mr. **** has made is through the service writer on his personal cell. Again No refund or money back will be granted.
