The Connection at Lawrence is a huge scam. Me and my roommate were shown a luxury model, but we didn't want something that expensive, we decided to go with an upgraded unit, which was better in our price range and had everything we needed. We signed for an upgraded unit and were told that is what we would get, and then comes the day of move in and they gave us a basic unit and even increased our rent. We still were fine living there until we walked into the unit, the unit smelled disgusting, the floors were dirty, the paint on the walls in the apartment was chipping, the carpet had stains, some closet shelves were broken, even some of the furniture was damaged. We went to the office to let them know how the apartment was, we took a video of the apartment to show them, and yet they were not willing to cooperate with us or even compensate. After, we got our families involved, they decided to just fix the carpet and certain areas of the wall, which took about 1-1.5 months. At this time we were not living in the apartment and yet we were still expected to pay the rent, even though they didn't have the unit ready in move in condition. After the wall and carpet fixtures, I contacted them about the damaged furniture and broken closet shelves not being fixed, and they were not willing to do anything about it. I lived in that unit for a whole year with all these problems, and then I moved out last month when my lease ended. A couple days ago, they sent me an invoice of them charging me $692.50 for the items that were damaged from the start in the apartment. I contacted them today about it and the girl in the office hung up on me mid conversation and was extremely rude. Basically, living here is a huge scam, they are just trying to make money off you, and the management is extremely rude. I would not recommend living here. I recommend anywhere in Lawrence, KS besides The Connection at Lawrence, save your money, don't let them take advantage of you.
