I bought a property on ******* Rd last yr in July. There is a good size lake on the property that I could tell needed work. In Jan of 2025 Paul from Whats Below was at a neighbor's house and stopped by my property while I was there and said he could fix the leaks in the lake. The lake was up to pool at the time due to weather. He came by Feb 19/20 and told me he had fixed the lake so I paid him the $7500 we agreed upon.
Since then, he has come back many times to keep adding bentonite clay. The lake is STILL leaking and I have documented it along the way. I asked for a partial refund on April 7. He assured me that he was getting it fixed. Since he started 7 months ago the lake has dropped at least 4' in depth and the water line about 30' down the bank. I have been very patient and was never told this process would take 7 months. Especially when I paid him the 2nd day he came out. Im continually told he needs rain to tell but the lake is dropping regardless so rain was not needed. He has stopped replying so I feel I have no other option at this point. At the end of the day, the job is not complete per our agreement and has taken WAY longer than it should have. I was told point blank by him that he could keep the lake at full pool with bentonite. This has not happened. I have all our correspondence as well as pictures I have shared with him since Feb if needed as proof of my complaint. I am requesting a refund.

    Business Response

*** was aware of many treatments over time and when he asked how long in a text, I responded that it depends on how many leaks I must repair in your dam.  This was one of the worst lakes I have worked over 4 years.  I knew from seeing his dam from his neighbor that it had one deep cut through the dam.  I have many pictures of several issues with his lake.  When it was almost completed in June with the water almost going out the outlet pipe, *** notified me that half of his lake water had left quickly.  I discovered that a large sinkhole had opened up and that is why his lake's water was removed.  Our contract with him says that the new weight of higher water can cause new leaks.  This is not our fault.  However, it is an added expense to bring in triaxle loads of rock and dirt to fill this new hole.  After fixing this hole we are now in the heat of Summer and the lack of rain to fill the lake.  It took to September 25th for the rains to start his stream running again.  The lake is now filling up with water.  I have a picture of his stream bed with only leaves in early September.  Today I have a picture and video of water running in that same stream.  I have no control of the rain.  As of today his lake has no leaks at this new height.  I has taken several days to return to fix the new higher leaks.  This is a finished job and no funds need to be refunded for work not completed.  There is still rain needed to completely fill his lake.  I do not provide the water.  That comes from above.  The RainDrop app says that Ben's lake will receive on average four feet of water in a year.  His lake needed more than that to fill it.  The good news is that he has a stream now running into his lake that should fill it before this coming Spring.
