Important information
- Additional Info:BBB serving Central Indiana received a mailer from a consumer from Moore, OK. The mailer claims the consumer has been chosen for the "Official ****Gold Star 1st**** Intercontinental Notification Designated Granting ******** ******* The Entitlement of being reported- to in the lump-sum amount of [U.S. Dollar] Currency over $1,900,000". Also stated, "Documentation is coming to you. Don't let anyone tell you differently- that you are not entitled to it. This is simply not true [and it is supported by governmental regulatory agency-prescribing of prizes- rules adhered to by Financial Notification Advisors]".
In order to collect the "prize", the mailer states, the consumer was required to send a $20 "processing fee".
The mailer contains fine print stating that "Financial Notification Advisor is a reporting service that researches and provides information on various sweepstakes that are managed by separate corporate entities." The fine print does not clearly disclose to consumers that they have not, in fact, won a prize.
BBB serving Central Indiana would like to remind consumers that legitimate sweepstakes don't require you to pay or buy something to enter or improve your chances of winning, or to pay "taxes" or "shipping and handling charges" to get your prize. If you have to pay to receive your "prize," it's not a prize at all.
