    I bought a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu from this business on 6/26/2023 and i tried to trade it in. i was given a CarFax report at a different dealership and there was structural damage that was not disclosed to me when buying the vehicle.

    Dear Better Business Bureau:
    I represent Merchants Auto Group, regarding the complaint submitted on 05/02/2024 by *****************************. On 06/26/2023, ******************** and Merchants Auto Group entered into a vehicle financing contract. In this agreement, ******************** signed and agreed to buy a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu AS IS (see attached) and with no dealer warranty from the seller. This form was signed by the customer before entering into any agreement(s).


    Prior to the time of sale, the Autocheck (Experian) vehicle history report did not reflect any structural damage. CarFax (TransUnion) is a third-party company that provides vehicle history reports. The report run when we got the vehicle did not report the same information. Furthermore, upon visual inspection during the reconditioning process of this vehicle, our technician did not find any structural damage at that time.


    Under these conditions in the agreement, Merchants Auto Group is not liable to ******************** for any issues with the vehicle. Merchants Auto Group seeks to conduct transparent and reputable business in their transactions with all customers. My client wishes ******************** the best, however we are not responsible for the issues raised in this complaint.

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. 

     

    While i did sign a financial contract with an AS IS vehicle, the statements youre making are irrelevant. The structural damage was listed years before i bought the car, and you cannot supply me with a copy of a history report i signed when purchasing the car. 36 hours after the claim was sent to the business, my grille was cut out of my 2019 Malibu at 3:45AM I purchased from you with a saw, revealing chalk Xs from a body shop. I was lied to, which makes my car value close to nothing- as I only learned about this CarFax history when trying to trade my car in. I stand by what I have said, and will not settle for you saying you arent responsible
