  I hired Root Advisors for monthly bookkeeping services in March 2025. As a small business owner, I have limited time to spend on bookkeeping. In November 2025, I realized that a number of client checks that had been electronically deposited were not credited to my account. Previously I had been auditing these every month, but I had stopped doing that since I now had a professional accounting firm reconciling my accounts. Apparently they had not been reconciling the accounts for the entire time. These checks totaled over $4000, and I had paid Root Advisors $3600 for nothing, evidently. During the 9 months, they had never asked me about any individual transactions. The only thing that I would hear is that I needed to reconnect them to my bank account with a code (which I did), and (in November) that I needed to create a weekly or monthly spreadsheet of check deposits. In no way should I need to spend time on creating spreadsheets when they have the information available in QuickBooks. Also, if they needed additional information, it was unacceptable to wait 9 months before bringing this to my attention, and continuing to charge for services not rendered. Upon notifying them of my issue, and telling them that I was ending services, there was no explanation or apology from the bookkeeper or the owner. I simply received an email from a *client experience ambassador* that we must have had communication challenges.

  I am deeply disappointed with the services provided by ***************** at Root Accounting Services and feel it's important to share my experience for the benefit of others. Communication with **** was consistently challenging, leading to significant issues and unfulfilled promises. One of the major issues was the failure to convert my business to an S Corporation as promised. Despite assurances to the contrary, my company remained classified as a sole proprietorship, and my taxes were incorrectly filed under a Schedule C, leading to significant financial and legal discrepancies.Additionally, there were numerous oversights in handling my financial documents. Paystubs that were crucial for my records were either missing or sent in a manner that was disorganized and difficult to decipher. The lack of order and clarity in these documents made managing my finances unnecessarily complicated.Compounding these issues, there was a serious breach of confidentiality and professionalism when I received someone else's W-2 information by mistake. This not only raised concerns about the security of my personal information but also highlighted a disturbing lack of attention to detail.Furthermore, there were missed opportunities for deductions that were not taken advantage of, further impacting my financial situation negatively. The diligence and attention to detail I expected from a professional CPA were startlingly absent.To make matters worse, there were penalties and fees incurred due to late payments to both the *** and workforce development, which I was under the impression had been handled timely. Despite these numerous and significant issues, ***************** has withheld my financial information, citing unpaid fees for services I believe were not properly rendered. This has complicated the transfer of my financial matters to a new CPA and further added to the distress caused by this ordeal.
