**** Hired Baltic Roofing in Willowbrook to replace 2 leaking skylights. We were concerned they would cause more interior damage if we did not act quickly. Not knowing how much a skylight itself would cost. We trusted them to be fair and competitive with pricing and did not question them. **** they installed them. Old skylights had blinds. New ones do not. We were told ahead of time they can easily be installed at a later time if needed. Only to find out after installation that the skylights would need to be removed to install the Velux blind kit. Big issue here! We were charged $6800 for the job. Later found out the skylights could be purchased for less than $400ea. Job took one man about 6.5 hours. Labor roughly cost us $800.00 per hour. $800 per hour! Called 3 other roofing companies and our insurance agent at State Farm. Same Velux skylight with all materials and labor was estimated $3200 with State Farm, $3400-$4300 with other roofing companies. Contacted ****** at Baltic several times to get the issue resolved.Gave him all of the information regarding price and blinds that we got. He blamed a poor 1 quarter of business and the pandemic for the cost. Told us that nobody forced us to use him. We were shocked with his responses. He did nothing to try and resolve our concerns. Grossly overcharging customers because of a slow off season should not be a practice of any business. I can send our correspondence and any other information necessary to help address this matter. We understand we all get a sticker shock with anything we buy today. Per customers request, on 4/12/22 we came out to provide an estimate to replace 2 skylights. We estimated the job on site and provided a written estimate to the customer for review with no pressure to buy anything that day. We were about to leave, but **** rushed to our truck with the request to proceed with the work. On 04/12/22, the Work Order was signed. Due to active leak, we were asked to do the project asap, so we took it as a priority and completed the work on 4/15/22. After the job completion, customer praised our work multiple times. But later customer decided that we charged too much. Unfortunately, we cant take provided services back. We estimated the job with no pressure sales, customer decided to move forward for agreed price and we completed the work to their satisfaction. In regards skylight blinds, they were discussed with the customer in depth and no blinds were chosen at that time. The blinds can be added easily at any time. Since it is a curb skylight, the glass frame could be easily removed (just a couple screws holding it), blind dropped in and glass frame put back. It requires minimal work, as explained to the customer during original consultation. We strongly believe we did everything as agreed. However, we decided to go an extra mile, and offered a complimentary refund to the customer ($312.80), but it was rejected.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
1) The refund of $312 offered by Baltic is roughly 1/10 of what they overcharged us. They came up with that figure by combining the massive profit they made off of us with their slow off season 1st quarter. We have contacted them several times over the past month asking them to come up with a solution. The offer of $312 was an insult.2) Blinds were discussed. But we were told with the new style glass, we probably would not need them. We were never given a price with the blinds. We also were not informed that someone would have to get on the roof, remove the new skylight glass to install them. So going by the massive labor rate Baltic recently charged us. Installing blinds would be a very expensive add on now.3) This is not some minor overcharge or buyers remorse. Baltic roughly charged us twice the amount other roofing companies and ******************** would allow for the job. They charged us roughly $800 an hour for labor! One man did the job in 6.5 hours. Business practices such as this should not be tolerated.
