In Jan., 2022 we hired Quality Movers to help pack our house and load 2 U-pack trailers. The agreed upon rate was $156/hr for 3 workers. The owner/mgr estimated 2 days for packing and loading @ 6hr/day. We supplied boxes, tape, blankets, packing paper, and tie down straps at our cost, stacked in the front hall with a large sign reading "PACKING MATERIALS." On the 1st day, only 2 men showed up. We were charged $135/hr for the difference vs. $104/hr. The men left more than an hour early, leaving considerably more work to do the next day. They also packed the moving materials we bought on the truck. The men showed up with no tape guns. Next day, 3 men arrived. They worked hard, but halfway through became exhausted and sloppy, quite literally just jamming things on the trucks, ignoring FRAGILE or STORE ON TOP labels. They left at 9pm, with many items left in closets that needed to be packed on the trucks by ourselves. The haphazard packing of the trucks also cost us a lot more b/c charges were calculated by space used. Having to finish packing well into the night delayed our departure, costing us an extra night in a hotel. A week later, the trailers arrived at our new home, **** miles away. We opened them to find a complete disaster. Everything had caved in to the center of the trailers. There was much damage of furniture, boxes crushed, and our 72" TV utterly destroyed, as were other items. Worse, the attitude of the company when we tried to claim on the damages was callous. They'd said at the outset our property was insured, but they refused to cover us. We called their insurance company but after several months of round-***** with both, the insurance *** told us the property was insured only by weight, offering us pennies on the pound for our damaged and destroyed property. Our belief is that the lies, dissembling, bait-and-switch tactics, sneakiness, and hostile attitude toward people and property by Quality Movers must be addressed.
