Took my car for tire repair and inspection they frayed a wire during the diagnostic test and are refusing to fix it. My car wont even start. It was working fine when I dropped it off. I was aware that there was a fuse box problem, and it was gonna need to be repaired that has nothing to do with the wire that they damaged. And are refusing to replace. So my car can start back up. I had no problems with my car driving. I drove it there and now theyre telling me since the wire is damaged. My car wont even start and they are refusing to assist me and Ive called corporate. They wont help either. Privately owned store, and my car is still sitting there.Business response

To whom it may concern,My name is *************************, my family has owned & operated the Midas in Wheaton since ****. *************** to a complaint from *************************** that alleges our inspection process caused her vehicle to not start. I am providing the following pictures to support my argument that ****************** vehicle was in need of repair when she authorized Midas to diagnose her vehicle's issues: 1) dome light inoperable 2) check engine light on.Upon receiving her signature authorizing the charges to diagnose her concerns (see signed copy of work order), the Midas technician scanned the vehicle's computer & noted nearly 20 codes present in history, many of which are for body control module (see copy of technician's notes). The technician also noted that the main fuse box under the hood was extremely warm. He further noted that the power supply to the fuse box was corroded & was melting (see pictures provided). At this point the Midas Service Advisor contacted ************** & informed her what the technician had diagnosed the problem to be & informed her that her car will not run without replacing the fuse box. ************** stated that we "ruined" her vehicle & demanded that we fix it at no charge. She continued that she drove it in & she should be able to drive it out. Midas provided her with the cost to repair her vehicle, but she said she would not pay & demanded that Midas get her vehicle running at no additional charge to her. Midas specifically informed her that with out the replacement of the fuse box, the vehicle would not run. At this time, ************** contacted Midas Consumer Relations & filed a complaint.Upon receiving the complaint from **************, I immediately contacted her & explained that this is a common problem with her vehicle & that this was the reason for her having the check engine light on in the first place. She demanded that I get her car running at no charge. Before I could speak, ************** hung up the phone. The next morning ************** sent a family friend, ******, to the Midas shop to find out the condition of her vehicle. I immediately brought ****** out to the vehicle & showed him the melted fuse box connection & explained the repair. ****** confirmed that he understood the need to replace the fuse box & said that he would speak with **************. At such time, I informed ****** that I no longer wanted to service this vehicle. I stated that ************** was rude & was trying to blame Midas for her vehicle's problems. I informed him that I wanted the vehicle removed from my property & that I was willing to not charge ************** the diagnosis fees she agreed to pay. I felt that ************** did not treat my staff with any respect & I felt she needed to find a different repair facility to help her.Shortly after meeting with ******, ************** arrived with the Wheaton Police. I should the Police pictures of the melted fuse box & explained what had transpired. The Police informed ************** that there was nothing they could do & that this was a civil matter. During this time, the technician put a zip tie on the power supply going to the fuse box (see picture that was provided). I informed ************** that this was extremely temporary fix & it may or may not last even for a day. 10-26-2022 I brought my own pads and rotors for front and rear and when I presented my coupon all the associate said was unfortunately I cannot use it. Let that 1 go no big deal. I picked yo the car 10-27-2022 Today 24hrs later my tpms light came on because I had them swap out my summer tires for winter tires that is on a different set of wheels mounted. I asked them to reset my Tpms and the guy at the desk said they have to recalibrate it and there will be extra charge for it. Stay away from this MiDas all they want is extra $$$ from costumers.
