My husband, **** ********* and I went to the residence of ******* (*****) and ***** ************** on 2/19/23 to purchase a male puppy for 1,000.00 cash with guaranteed health contract and AKC pedigree. The breeders presented the puppy, contract and copies of pedigree (attached). The puppy returned home with us, had continued healthcare, vaccines at *** ****** ******** in ***** ****** *** He was active, healthy and normal vitals. On Wednesday, June 7, the puppy died instantly in his baby pen at the age of 6 mo. 1 day in front of my female Cairn terrier and me. He had played happily outside one-one half hour before with me. He was rushed to the vet hospital no more than 5 minutes from my home and was pronounced dead on arrival by vet. Vet stated the cause of death was heart defect or some other defect related to congenital birth defect. The vet advised against necropsy due to the expense of over 800.00 with still the chance of being inconclusive. I contacted the breeder, ***** within two hours of vet visit and left message for wife ***** who did not respond. ***** asked about necropsy but did not offer to pay for the procedure and would not provide compensation to honor contract despite numerous outreach to him and his wife. The contract states guarantee up to pup's first birthday for congenital birth defects. The vets stated it is highly unusual for puppy to experience sudden death and feel this is related to birth defect. We would like our purchase price of 1000.00 plus 198.50 for cremation. This still does not cover the cost of previous vaccines, vet bills and emotional devastation of my family and our terrier. They sold the parents of our puppy and shipped them off property, along with littermates. I want my contract honored in good faith. NOTE: Breeders appear to have two addresses: primary: ** ******* ** *** ** ******* ***
