Fortis quote dated 8/24/23 was reviewed by me and accepted on 8/28/23. The quote mentioned that for $13,000 Fortis would remove the existing driveway and replace it with concrete. The existing front walk and back steps would also be removed and replaced. On 8/29/23 I was told that I had to pay an additional $1,375 for a new culvert pipe. I agreed on 10/2/23. I reminded Fortis staff several times to check for permits and that this was their responsibility. The existing driveway, culvert pipe, walkway and back steps were removed and forms were installed on 10/2/23, along with the new steel culvert pipe and gravel base. New concrete from ****** was poured for the three areas. It was formulated by ****** with a fiber mesh for added strength and installed with wire mesh. On 10/4/23, I received a violation notice from ****** Township for a driveway without a permit. I forwarded the violation to Fortis. On 10/10/23, I received another violation from the ********************** ***** that a permit must be obtained for the concrete work. That notice was also forwarded to Fortis. The violations were issued because no permit was obtained and because Fortis installed a steel culvert pipe not compliant to the code. Fortis was required to dig up the steel pipe, replace it with an **** compliant pipe and repour concrete over the section over the new **** pipe. The permit required a ***** of survey, I sent to Fortis on 10/16/23. The permit was received by Fortis on 10/25/23. By 10/27/23 the concrete over the steel pipe was removed, the new **** pipe was installed and covered with gravel. On 10/30/23, I received a prepour approval notice from the ********************** ***** Fortis said I would be told when the concrete would be poured over the **** pipe. No one called. The concrete was delivered in a Fortis truck with Fortis concrete (not ****** concrete), poured on 11/3/23. When I got home the poured concrete was much darker and has remained much darker.

I did get to visit the site of the project and did notice a difference in coloring in the concrete. All the concrete comes from ****** whether its in their truck or ours. There can be some variation in coloring but in the end all concrete fades to an off white.  We cant guarantee the coloring of concrete as stated in our contract.  I can say that this apron will change colors as it progresses through it stages of curing. All concrete does. The mix also had a sealer/salt block in it so that will affect the curing as well. Ill keep a close eye on it. From a structural stand point it is doing excellent.

I contracted Fortis to pour my patio, steps, and retaining wall in September 2022, in preparation for my new 2nd-floor deck. We discovered that the piers were put in 11 feet from the house instead of 12; and the pad is now 17 feet wide instead of 20 feet, per the specs and measurements on the contract. My deck contractor was out to measure with their sales ******************** and marked the yard accordingly. Fortis never re-measured prior to prepping to verify the measurements were accurate. They failed 4 inspections because they do not know how to read a tape measure - the piers were to be 42 inches deep, and they were first 25 inches, then 30, 34, 38, and finally they got to 42. I settled for an 11-foot wide deck. Then we discovered that the stairs and placement of the retaining wall did not match up to what was on the contract, which caused the length of my deck to be off. I spoke to *** and ***** (two of the owners), and they came out to look at my project on October 26, along with my deck contractor. After reviewing everything, Fortis agreed that they need to pour one small portion to make a 3rd step, and then ***** asked what the deck contractor can do to make me, the homeowner happy, with the deck. Clearly, he had to make some revisions to the design to make it fit. We came up with a solution and ***** asked my deck contractor to send him the invoice, and he will pay it. After three weeks of numerous text messages and phone calls to ***, *****, and the third brother, ********, I still do not have a resolution. At one point, ***** said the deck contractor's invoice was too expensive. I told him to speak to him - I have no control over it. I want them to honor their word and pay the invoice for labor and some wood so I can get my deck completed. We will reuse some wood that I have to help save money. I do not know why it is taking so long - just honor your word and get this job completed.

An agreement was reached with the ********* contractor building the deck that was fair and the modifications to expand deck are being completed. Not sure why the owner has responded to this yet. Probably waiting for deck contractor to finish.
