      On 8/10/23 we filed an insurance claim due to a leak in the first floor bathroom of the unoccupied house we are selling. ServPro was sent out to test the drywall to determine if it needed replacement. They said that it did and offered to also remodel the bathroom and to replace the tub with a shower stall to make it more modern. We thought we would save time by hiring them and that this franchisee knew what they were doing since our insurance company works with their parent company. Instead, they caused multiple delays and repeatedly asked for more money. In the end when we evaluated the shower stall they put in we found: 1) they forgot to remove the tub spout, 2) they did not lay the tile properly so it does not drain in the center, 3) they did not replace the 1 1/2" pipe with 2" pipe which is needed for the water to drain and to meet building code, 4) after we ran the shower to see if the water would drain, we discovered that all the water wound up dripping from our basement floor. ServPro wanted us to pay anyway. We asked them about the leak, they said a plumber had determined it was not their fault, but they refused to provide his report, name or telephone number. When I told them any information would help to fix the leak which must be fixed to show the house, they said their imaginary plumber only would clear them and I had better hire my own if I want something done about the leak. *****'s Plumbing, an A+ BBB business determined the faulty shower bed caused the leak. We have been turning away buyers due to this, paid *****'s $500 for the investigation and will have to hire a competent contractor now costing thousands more and pay the plumber to repipe it. ServPro must pay for the damage they have caused and preventing sale of our house.
