Dropped off a diving watch for some repairs plus battery replacement, which has had **many** battery replacements by other jewelers with the backing taken off/put back on through-out the years without any problem, and when I got the watch back supposedly 'repaired' (which was not cheap at all), not only was it not water-proof anymore, which I accepted, but then, a couple weeks later with **normal** wear the backing somehow fell off and got lost... When I dropped off the watch again to get repaired a second time, I was told that I was liable for this and it would be an extra cost, that the repair guarantee did not cover this... The backing of a watch is not exactly easy to get off, requiring special tools, etc. Additionally the watch has a contiguous band, so the backing is the most unexposed/protected area of a watch in some ways---all of which I tried to rationalize with them, arguing that they probably had put it on loose to begin with---again watch backings to not just 'fall off' on their own...but none of which they were accepting to hear or agreeable to--blaming me that I had lost or damage it--- Do they think I took a hammer to the back of my watch?!.. or maybe one night I was just bored, and thought I'd try to pry it open?!... I mean really, let's think about this---a repair person, who needs special equipment just opened-up the casing and now the casing comes apart shortly after doing this and its my fault?!... They only thing they could say over the phone is that their repairs go through "extensive quality checks, etc, etc" none of which they could specifically tell me about, but instead just relying on this broad nonspecific language that was supposed to reassure and convince me that they it wasn't their issue...
