All the complaints on here are very true and I can attest to the scamming that goes on at Mr. Rooter. I hired them to fix an issue regarding a high water bill and they misdiagnosed the issue to be a “waterline leakage” and claimed they had to replace the waterline (which wasn’t the solution). They then mentioned they would cut my water off for a few hours to replace the waterline. My water was cut off for several days. I had to stay at a hotel as a result. They damaged my electrical wires in the area the dug the hole for the waterline and the lights in my home started to flicker as a result. My entire home lost power a few weeks later as a result. The power company that resolved the power issue confirmed the outage was due to the damage Mr Rooter caused. When they left my home, after not fixing the issue I hired them for, they never closed up the hole the dug for the waterline. They also promised they were going to level and reseed the area they dug up and that never happened. One red flag that I should have caught was they insisted I pay the full amount of $15,000 before the work started and I did. I paid $7,500 on a credit card and the remainder from a loan. A scam you should look out for from Mr Rooter’s contract is that they don’t mention fixing specific plumbing issue, but leave it vague by calling it a “home improvement project”. They also don’t call they’re workers “plumbers”. They referred to as “technicians” for a reason. I hired a true plumber to fix my issue and filed a dispute on Mr Rooter’s charge on my credit card for poor quality work and not completing the work they were hired for. Mr. Rooter kept trying to get me to stop the dispute but I didn’t. They even threatened to put a lien on my home which they didn’t. I won the dispute based on the evidence I submitted and got $7,500 back. Mr Rooter is now trying to sue me for the amount I won from the dispute. I have several forms of evidence from documentation to pictures and videos to prove the above.

I usually don’t post this stuff, but consumers beware. I called Mr. Rooter of Peoria to have my drain cleared. Before you ask, YES, they service homes here. They were almost 2 hours late, but I do understand some times this happens. When the technician arrived he said you will need a new line, I call tell. He did not want to take off the cap in the garage as he said it was too corroded. He then went though an overflow in the basement. He said he thought it was done. He said we need to get a camera down there. So I paid a “discount” price for the camera.
Within the hour our drain was backing up again. So they sent a camera technician to be here between 5-7 pm. 7:25 he pulls up. He said this isn’t going to be good when he saw the trees. I had to pull off my toilet and he went through that. He proceeded to tell me I had to pay $5950 to repair the line and he marked it where his “sensor was pinging at the clog. He was trying to have me sign that night and he would have it flowing within 48 hours. My gut told me he was wrong and I needed a second opinion.
The next day I called a local plumbing company. They had someone at the house within 1/2 hour, said it was sludge buildup and my line was fine. He asked where they were going to dig to repair. I showed him the spray paint. He started laughing. He said there isn’t anything there. Your line goes straight out and then to the road, what was he thinking. After two hours, the drain was cleared.
Needless to say $150 wasted along with precious time. Lesson learned. Check. Stay local my friends.

At Mr. Rooter Plumbing, we prioritize delivering long-term solutions for our customers rather than offering quick fixes that leave them vulnerable to recurring issues. Unlike many companies that simply run an auger to clear a blockage—fully aware that the problem will likely return—we take the time to identify and resolve the root cause of the issue. Our goal is to provide peace of mind by ensuring the problem doesn’t come back to haunt the homeowner.

We use advanced technology such as video camera inspections to thoroughly assess the condition of the pipes. This allows us to detect underlying issues like cracks, tree root intrusion, or pipe misalignment that a basic auger service would overlook. By pinpointing the actual source of the problem, we can recommend and implement permanent solutions, such as hydro jetting, pipe relining, or full replacements when necessary.

Our technicians are trained to educate customers on their options, explaining the benefits of preventative maintenance and long-term repairs. While some companies may take the easy route, we are committed to transparency and quality workmanship, ensuring that our customers’ plumbing systems remain reliable for years to come.

At Mr. Rooter, we believe in building trust through lasting results. Our focus is on protecting your home and your investment, not providing temporary relief. When you choose Mr. Rooter Plumbing, you can be confident that you’re receiving solutions designed for durability, efficiency, and your long-term satisfaction.

Technician came out and left within 10 minutes, nothing is corrected, on day two and I'm still attempting to get them back out here too correct it. As of now I would never recommend or do business again, hopefully it was a bad technician and the company will make it right and show it's not how they do business.

You must get other quotes. Try ** ****** or ******* Mr. Rooter quotes work then quote more work. And then quote more work until your bill is $14,000. Ultimately my bill from a real professional was $600.

Tim and Mr. Rooter did an outstanding job fixing our sewer line. From start to finish, their team was professional, courteous, and efficient. They quickly diagnosed the issue, explained the repair process in detail, and got to work right away. The crew was respectful of our property, ensuring everything was left clean and orderly. What impressed us most was their attention to detail and dedication to doing the job right the first time. Will try to scam you! Beware!
Called for what we thought was a clogged pipe but told we needed a camera crew to come and find the problem since they weren’t able to find the clog. Thankfully the septic company was there at the same time. Mr Rooter tried to tell us our sewer pipe collapsed and we needed $5,600 worth of repairs done. However the septic company was able to find that we just had a toilet paper clog in our septic tank!! Mr Rooter didn’t even try to find another resolution for us. We could have been taken! Never use this company, they know when you are vulnerable and try to take advantage of you.

Horrible. Hired them to fix clogged bathroom sink drains. Tried to tell me I needed to pay them $4950 to address clog by removing vanity and countertop. They would then rebuild plumbing to add a clean out. Also, I had to tear out vanity and countertop and replace them. Had another well known service come a couple days later and they were done and gone in less than a half hour. From what I’ve see in previous complaints filed against them, appears to be a pattern. Make almost no effort to address problem then call in a camera and charge thousands of dollars for a mystery issue. Guess I looked like an easy mark.

I just read some of the other negative reviews and my situation is very similar. Had a backed up kitchen sink so we called Mr. Rooter who arrived within a few hours. Two gentleman came and we explained the situation. They said it would be $95 for the clean out but for a mere $5 more we could get another technician to do a camera scope to insure the integrity of the plumbing. My little voice said “be careful another opportunity for an upsell. My wife thought it would be a good idea. So the techs proceeded with the clean out but the end result according to them that they could only snake about ten feet and could go no further. Tree roots they stated. Said the camera man needed to evaluate. So a couple of hours later TJ showed up. He said he was the area manager and was never in the field but was filling in for the regular tech. Another red flag? He proceeded to setup his camera and stated that he could only go in about a foot. When I quetioned why the other guys could go ten feet he replied” my camera head is bigger than the auger. Another red flag? Tree roots he said. Said they would be out of business if it weren’t for tree roots. So he quoted me $4250 to do an exploratory evaluation. I trusted that, based on his evaluation, I had a mass of tree roots occluding my pipe and there were no other options. I asked when they could get to it and he said I was in luck they had a cancellation and he could get a crew early the next morning. Another red flag? Long story short they dug up a large portion of my driveway before breaking through my foundation to find the pipe, cut it open and clear it with a pressure hose. Low and behold not one tree root was found. I have since spoken with another manager and I know that there will be no financial reimbursement. I will dispute what charges on my credit card that I can probably to no avail, but I will exercise all possible social media I can to expose this company as a company not to be trusted. Ps ,I am a senior citizen.

Schuyler, we apologize for the confusion about what was wrong with your pipe. Our team initially thought it was tree roots causing the blockage but after they dug in your foundation, they found the pipe was completely blocked with grease and other items. There was still a complete blockage that wasn't able to be addressed outside of the pipe, so our team did need to dig regardless of what or where the blockage was coming from. We'd be happy to show you any pictures we've taken before and after to see everything we're speaking about. It's so important for us to provide exceptional service to all of our customers, and we're sorry if we missed the mark with you. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and remove the blockage from your pipe so your plumbing can once again run smoothly. Thank you for giving us a call.
