I hired a general contractor to remodel my home. Once the contract was signed, they failed to communicate with me. I have many questions regarding decisions and idea that went unanswered. I wa stood this project would evolve and wed keep in contact. It quickly became apparent to me they didnt know what they were doing. The project manager failed to remember supposed wall was being removed, then dont remember how much was being removed. The beam had to be replaced twice. The ** also want to put plumbing in an exterior wall which I know is not right unless you place a false wall to encompass it and protect from freezing. The project manager felt it was appropriate to place a wood frame over a wood burning firebox to place veneer brick on. I was told it was code. That was. A huge red flag. How could wood be placed touching a metal firebox that exceeds **** degrees. A floor outlet was put in,karaokes butvinstead of poking in my basket with exposed ceiling to see where it could be appropriately placed, they cut a hole and smashed it in crushing the wall of my cold air returned. The job was supposed to be done in ***** weeks but at 16 weeks the house had not even been demoed completely. I ****** another contractor to come out and address my concerns and see if they were valid. He absolutely thought that my fears were valid and it was a major concern. He called to see if the place even had a permit pulled to do the work. This house did not have a permit pulled. After reading the contract, I was supposed to be the one who pulled a permit, which I asked Illinois Restoration about and they said we did not need a permit Regardless, the inspector stated it doesnt matter who was supposed to obtain the permit. They shouldnt have started. Without asking for one. Their plumber and their electrician or not licensed. I gave them a $50k deposit. I fired them and they sent me a bill for an additional $15k of work. So many more details to disclose. Please HELP ME

      BBB,

Our Attorney spoke to a manager at BBB, we were told to respond via the portal, to have this complaint put on hold, as it is being handled by attorneys in the legal process, and has been since February of 2023. The ******** sheriff's office has been involved, and a Lien was filed and then recorded on 5/17/23. Per our attorney's advice we cannot respond to this publicly until the legal matter is resolved.  If you have further questions, you can direct them to ***************************************, her number is ************.  Thank you so much, we would love to get this resolved.
