On 9/9/22 I took my two year old son to the emergency room. He had fallen on his neck and was inconsolable. We waited to be seen for 1 hour and 45 min. A 2year old sat still for nearly 2 hours. He was clearly distressed and in pain. The triage nurse took us back to gather our information. She was extremely condescending and dismissive. Without ever taking us back into the ** for treatment, she brought out the doctor to consult with us. In the few minutes he was in the room he shined a light into my son's eyes and ears. Dismissed his injury as soft tissue and told us to go home. I requested an x ray and was talked out of it by these professionals. I was told I would be exposing him to unnecessary radiation and therefore increasing his likelihood of cancer. I was told hes just tired as it is late and he'll be fine in the morning, I could return if symptoms worsened or consult his pediatrician on Monday but since its Friday and that was 3 days away the doctor wouldn't even bother because he'll be fine by then. The doctor abruptly left, the nurse ushered us out to registration where immediate payment was requested. I sat for another half hour for discharge paperwork and was sent home. No treatment was received not even Tylenol or an icepack. Upon consulting with our pediatrician my son has a broken clavicle. The emergency room doctor and nurse dismissed us without laying a finger on his area of complaint which was his neck and shoulder. He at 2 years old, verbalized and pointed to where his pain was and was ignored. This in and of itself is completely unacceptable. On 9/22/22 I filed a grievance with the hospital patient liaison. I was advised I would receive acknowledgment of my complaint within 7days. It was now been 13days since that last communication, 9working days,and I have not received any additional documentation. I am writing as not only was the quality of care completely lacking but the hospital is not acknowledging the event per their own policy.
