We hired DJ's 4x4 Diesel Performance to overhaul our 2004 **** Pickup Super Duty. The cost for the overhaul was $11,740.03 with a one year or ****** mile warranty. We picked the truck up from his shop on 2/5/25. Before departing for our trip, I returned the truck twice as I identified questionable work that he either failed to fix or didn't do correctly. Ground straps unattached, wire harness not clipped on firewall, loose wire to the starter. We also found out that he wrapped the air hose to my bag system across the top of the new exhaust system that he installed. The hose melted and my bags deflated and wouldnt reinflate during my travels pulling a ****** trailer. On 2/26/25 the vehicle broke down in ***********, ********. DJ was immediately contacted. He told us to check for Fuel and didn't have any other suggestions. We were stranded so we found a local diesel mechanic to tow the vehicle to their shop. The mechanic, ******, at Diesel Complete and Auto Repair in *********** got us back on the road three days later after replacing many of the parts originally incorrectly installed at DJ's. The cost of repair was $1,967.82. We also incurred additional charges like towing $100, camping & food charges in ***********. For 3 days we were stranded with our camper and no transportation while the truck was repaired. Upon return to town after our trip, DJ was contacted several times (text, phone and in person) for reimbursement for the problem his shop caused due to improper installation of parts. He refuses to reimburse. He was even provided pics of failed parts and commented "that's crazy" via text. He has failed to uphold his warranty. I'd be concerned about taking my vehicle back to him for repair work because he is aggressive toward me when I try to reconcile in person, on the phone or via text.We are seeking full reimbursement due to a lack of viable warranty as well as extra charges incurred in *********** due to his improper services.

The customer reached out to DJs wanting his head gaskets studded in his 2004 F350. Our mechanics repaired and replaced all problematic truck parts, along with tuning and adding a 5 inch exhaust. When he left the shop, the truck was in a tow tune and the customer was advised to watch temps while towing ******+ lbs due to those being the truck's maximum towing capacity. Especially when towing uphill. Before leaving on his trip, the customer returned with the truck once for broken ground strap, and a second time to have us look over the truck as a safety precaution. No issues were found. Customer even expressed his excitement for how the truck was running. When I received a call from him stating the truck "just died" while he was climbing a "really steep hill." I asked where his fuel was and he said around a quarter tank. I advised he should make sure he did in fact have fuel because those trucks often go empty at a quarter tank from a faulty sending unit. He said he would call back since the tow truck had arrived. Three days later, the customer sends a picture of a melted O ring off of an injection pump and I verified that would cause the truck not to run. I also asked his oil temps and the customer said he didn't know. Upon arriving back in town after having another shop diagnose and fix the truck, he demanded payment for the other shop's bill and a very nice dinner for him and his wife. I explained to him that DJs warranty explicitly states the vehicle must be fixed by DJs 4x4 and cannot exceed the original cost of the bill. After looking over the receipt, I told him he was asking for me to reimburse 20 year old parts that weren't replaced by us in the first place and the other shop replaced many parts that we had replaced. I told him we would need the original parts in order to test them. He had only one part, which he wouldn't provide for testing. He instead called me a profanity, then left. A week later, he asked to discuss the matter and said he would come to the shop at 8am and we could discuss everything with the other shop. He came to the shop and waited in his truck for 40 minutes and never came in. He left, then came back later and said he didn't want to involve the other shop. I asked to see the part that he had brought so that I could test it, but he would not allow it. I also asked about his oil temps when the truck died. He claimed he didn't know. I suggested that his oil temps were hot and he ran the truck too hard uphill. He told me to "prove it." He proceeded to scream profanities and threaten me -all documented on camera and with witnesses. He also said he wouldn't go away, would be "like herpes" and ruin my business. He then proceeded to call my girlfriend at her workplace and harass her about getting payment from me. He also contacted other businesses and acquaintances who had referred him to our shop, saying he would sue them if I didn't pay him back as well. I've been contacted by others who will be involving the police if he continues to harass them over this matter. It is difficult for my shop to warranty another shop's work when our paperwork requires all work to be done by DJs. I apologize that he's had hardships medically and financially, but this is in no way the fault of DJs 4x4.

I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because his response offers no solution to the problem. The problem is, he was hired and paid to do warrantied work on my truck.  He has had multiple opportunities to offer a solution and has failed to give even one.  He says it himself in his response "the other shop replaced many parts that we (DJ's 4x4) had replaced."  Yes, and had that shop not replaced the parts, we'd still be stranded in ***********, *********

His warranty was invoked when the truck failed due to that warranted work exactly 3 hours and 39 minutes or ***** miles from his shop.  There were no bells, whistles, dash lights to warn of the impending failure on the off ramp.  We didn't know it quit running until I pressed gas at the stop light.  The Warranty Provider (DJ's 4x4) offered no information or solution when we called upon breakdown besides to check the fuel.  The fuel tank was obviously not the issue.

We chose a reputable, licensed repair facility in *********** to do the work.  DJ's 4x4 (Warranty Provider) was the FIRST call we made when broke down on the highway off ramp.  And, we made sure the repair shop provided us with a detailed invoice of the work done.  It's not our fault his repairwork waited until we exited in *********** to fail ***** miles away.  DJ had the FIRST opportunity to offer us assistance and took no responsibility from the beginning.

    Sincerely,

    ***** *******

Our invoice clearly states that any warranty work is to be done by DJs 4x4. Only one picture of a melted O ring was sent to the shop. This was the only picture of damaged parts ever sent to DJs 4x4. Without viewing all parts put on by DJs for defects or being permitted to test any of the claimed 'bad" parts there is no way to determine that fault should be placed on DJs. The other shop simply began replacing all of the parts that DJs had originally replaced until they found the one bad O ring. Many other parts replaced by the other shop were original to the truck and cannot be covered by DJs. The ***** bottle (original to the truck, for example) was not leaking when the truck left DJs 4x4, so it was likely damaged by the other shop when they moved it to gain access to the driver's side Valve Cover. There is no way possible that all new parts put on by DJs were bad. It is of the utmost importance to know the truck's oil temps when climbing steep hills with his camper, but the customer has yet to disclose that information to DJs. The shop was told to "prove it" when requesting oil temps but was never provided the option to do so. In closing, DJs 4x4 cannot warranty work done by another shop. This is explicitly stated on all customer invoices.
