      Dropped off Duvet Cover for cleaning on 9/5/2023 for pickup on 9/7/2023 (Tkt # H 427472).On 9/6/2023 I received a call from ******* that there had been an accident with their cleaning machine and that our cover had been damaged.On 9/7/2023 I filed a written claim with merchant for reimbursement. This claim is for $620 which includes reimbursement for the cover, and four sham pillow covers of the matching set which now won't match our new bedding. The existing bedding is no longer produced and therefore cannot be replaced individually. The bedding had been purchased from Arhaus Furniture and received on about 01/15/2018. In addition, a refund of the charge for cleaning of $24.99, which I will not accept until this matter is settled, needs to be reimbursed also.On 09/18/2023, I received a settlement check for $150 from the merchant on the basis of supposed depreciation. I called the merchant that same day and asked for a return call from the owner, *************************. I have not received a return call. This set was in excellent condition at the time of the incident, and had many more years of use left.While the merchant has accepted full responsibility for the damage, I feel that their proposed settlement will in no way help in the purchase of new equivalent bedding.

      This customer dropped off a Duvet for cleaning as stated on September 5, 2023.  Unfortunately, his duvet was damaged in the cleaning process.  The customer was contacted and asked to fill out a claim form for the damaged item.  The claim form states that the depreciated value of the item will be determined according to the ****************************************** Fair Claims Guide.  This is considered best practice in the dry cleaning industry.  

      ******************* provided a piece of paper on which he stated a purchase price of a king size duvet cover for $320.  He also included the purchase price of items that were not in our care.  Any responsibility for damage pertains to the item we cleaned.

      ******************* was provided with a copy of the Fair Claims **** and an explanation on how we arrived at the reimbursement amount.  The item was over 5 years old and in average condition.  The lifespan of this kind of textile is considered 3 years.  If this item was being resold in an estate sale, garage sale or resale shop, it would have little value.  Based on the age (5 +years) and the condition (average) the guide states the value of this item at $48.  

      The check he received was $150, this includes a refund of the cost cleaning at $24.99, and 2 1/2 times the reimbursement amount outlined by the guide.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      The owner of the business, *******, contacted me to discuss her settlement proposal. While the business did not clean the sham covers with the duvet cover, the damage caused to the cover rendered the matching sham covers useless. We subsequently needed to and did replace both the duvet cover and the three sham covers, none of which would have been necessary if CD One Price Cleaners Deerfield had not damaged the duvet cover.

      If I had brought in a suit jacket without the matching suit pants, and the business had damaged only the jacket, would I only be reimbursed for the jacket?

      The business did counter with a new oiffer of $150 including the cleaning fee, which I believe is not sufficient. I countered with $250, which ******* rejected.

      I expressed my disbelief that this business would risk incurring harm to their reputation for this amount of money.
