On April 15, 2023, my 16 year old son and my husband purchased a 2008 GMC Acadia for $2,800.00 plus tax and title, from the Clinton Car Auction. They were not able to inspect the vehicle before bidding or before paying. Once my husband got in, it smelled terrible of mold. He drove the vehicle home because he was told everything is sold "as is". Since this time, we had two vehicle detail companies look at the vehicle. They wouldn't touch it. We had to save money to have mold remediation done ($500.00) on the vehicle. The mold remediation was done by **** *********** ** ******* ******** on July 10, 2023, receipt attached. Once the remediation was done, we felt safe letting a mechanic look at it. Windows don't roll up and down, front vents, front headlights, interior lights, dashboard don't work. The mechanic looked at the vehicle on 7/13/23, and informed us that the brain of the vehicle, the Powertrain Control Module or Engine Control Module has to be replaced and programmed. This part is costly and work must be done by a dealership. We were informed no dealership would touch this vehicle as it is a "flood car". He confirmed there is rust all over the under carriage, engine, and under the seats. We were informed there should have been biohazard stickers on the car and by reading Illinois law, it should have had a flood title. We were NEVER informed or led to believe there was such a major problem with this vehicle. We have contacted the Clinton Car Auction office and they are very unwilling to help. They obviously don't care and won't make any attempt to help resolve this matter. They were completely fraudulent and misrepresented the vehicle at auction. Not being able to see/inspect the vehicle before signing something that says you accept the car "as is" and purchasing it, is not only misrepresentation, it's FRAUD.
